Sanna Nielsen, one of the favourites to win Eurovision, has just revealed her plans for the 59th Eurovision Song Contest. Once again she’s going to light it up.
Christer Bjorkman, Sweden’s head of delegation, says Sanna will bring the drama with an amazing light display. He has decided not to change the basic look of her performance from Melodifestivalen. However, there will be some minor changes to polish this already brilliant stage performance.
Sanna will stand on an octagonal podium, which will be black and a little sparkly.“It will seem like it’s actually floating”, Bjorkman said. There will also be 18 lights around her, even more than at #melfest.
The goal is to make the spectators feel that they are closer to the performer, in a modern and elegant way. As for Sanna, she will wear a stunning dress to showcase her not as an adult, but as a young star. (As you’ll remember, Europe was shocked to learn that Miss Nielsen is only 29. See photo comparison with Ace Wilder at #19 here). We hope she ditches the pantsuits.
The dangling crystals from MF will not make an appearance and nothing will hang from the ceiling, except for a disco ball at the end of the performance. Please note: Alcazar will not emerge from inside!
Sweden’s return to darkness smacks of Loreen in 2012! They are taking this real serious, y’all…..

Smart Swedes…
Good luck sweden
I’d like to see Paparizou from Sweden; she’s much better than Sanna.
That’s the worst Swedish song ever (since 2001), sorry
I believe Sanna is gonna win go Sanna go go you are the winner, 😉
@Branko: There was a difference, as Trackshittaz wanted ALL lights to be turned off.
@nauportus90: Sanna is just doing what she’s supposed to do: SING not bring a full circus to the stage to distract you from what really matters: listening to her singing … but apparently you listen with your eyes! Bizarre!
The disco ball in Sanna’s performance sounds so peculiar! I guess it will also be really shiny and reflect well with the performance. This sounds like Sanna’s staging will have a stunning effect. So excited :D! Yay for no more mom outfits
The crystal will make it more classy
I wish they could have kept the crystals they made it seem so elegant. I just loved watching it in her performance at MF.
The song is eh, narrowly misses out on my top ten. If Ace won I would’ve actually been rooting for my country but Sanna’s just eh for me. Never was a big fan of her actually. I can only hope Ace pulls a Loreen and comes back next year with an even better song and wins it all.
@Mex where are you from?
by the way… I am still shocked about the age comparison between Sanna and Ace!
why does sweden always get one of the best staging… for example 2012 austria wanted to have dark stage but was not allowed, but sweden was… it is strange
@Sulejman Hadzic – your opinion is biased. 😉 Your favorite is Sanna, so… Nevertheless, good luck Sweden.
This will look amazing on stage.
I actually liked her performance in MF, so I’m glad she’s sticking to the same concept, I think it really worked with her song, let’s see how it improves for the B&W stage.
I’m glad Sanna will stick with simplicity. Often with a power ballad, less is more. Let’s hope she delivers a really memorable vocal on the night, as I’m sure she will 🙂
Sanna for the win!
sanna really needs to work on her stage presence. her melodifestivalen performance was kind of bland-she was just standing there and doing some awkward moves while there was a lightshow going on around her. you can’t rely solely on special effects, darling!
my top 5
1.Armenia
2.Russia
3.Icelan
4.Sweden
5.Ukraine
@Mex- Let’s wait and see. So enjoy being jealous meanwhile 😀
Since when this type of performance is “brilliant”? I don’t see anything spectacular, just lights beneath its platform while everything else being dark. The darkness looked weird on screen (MF). Considering how they, the Swedes, never (in the past few years) change the camera-plan for its entries, this won’t be as spectacular as this press-release says. Oh, well…nevermind. 🙂
I think Sweden will win. Go Sanna!
Beautiful ballad bautiful voice for me it’s a winner, my 12 points is for Anna Neilsen for SWEDEN this year becaus ethe song is my number one favourite and whatever colors, acts they use on stage will not stop me liking the song, I am sure she will sing her true voice out hitting the right notes to deliver best stage perforamance
WELL DONE SANNA!
