Judit: I expected more from Ireland. I like the song, but I have a problem with Kasey’s dress (it looks like a bad version of Conchita’s dress). I don’t like the background and the whole performance reminds me of Ryan Dolan’s performance from last year just in different colours. Same drums. Same vibe. Same bad result?

Patrick: Ireland 12 points…maybe? I love the dancers, because they show the Irish heart and soul. The girls look amazing, especially Kasey Smith. Her dress may look like a Conchita rip-off, but it’s still gorgeous! The opening of this remains disappointing visually, but when the waves start crashing I want to dive in. The poorest part of the performance was, sadly, Kasey’s voice. She sounded really bad and didn’t enunciate.

This is really such a shame to see. It’s a very good song from Ireland this year (although, the drivel they’ve sent the last few years kind of puts things into perspetive) yet it is let down BIG TIME by average vocals and a truly awful presentation. That dress is vile – and will compare badly to Conchita’s), why can’t she wear something dark like the backing singers? Or a more casual ‘top-shop’ look…that prom dress just doesn’t fit…and those god-damn dancers? All the criticism of them and yet they’ve kept them in – so clearly they don’t take advice/comments… Read more »

Now that I’ve imparted wisdom now let me tell ya’ll what I think 😀 Firstly, remember that this is only ONE run through of the performance of the 30 minute rehearsal slot. However the “Impression” videos actually feature a montage of clips from the 30 minute rehearsal with the audio of only one of the performance run throughs. You should go to youtube and watch single videos of the rehearsals recorded by the various ESC fan sites. Where they have uploaded all the run throughs of the 30 minute rehearsal. Each country can run through the song as many times as… Read more »

Just to clarify from Robyn’s point. I should point out that the jury members are not present in the arena. Nor are they even in Copenhagen. The juries are each in their respective countries. The jury dress rehearsal is broadcast the day before the semi final to the national broadcasters in each country. The juries vote by watching it on screen from the perspective of the viewer. I’ve ready many blogs and comments on various websites where fans think that the juries are actually present in the host city and in the arena. They are not! They vote from their… Read more »

What we see here is a particular style of Irish dancing that has been around considerably longer than “Riverdance”. Riverdance is the name of a show which features this style of dancing on a much larger scale than one would normally see. Calling it Riverdance or Riverdancing is like calling all opera “La Traviata”.

Does anyone know when the 3rd rehearsal is?

This is a vast improvement on the last rehearsal. I only wish they’d get rid of the backing dancers and reintroduce the movement that Kasey made during the last late late show performance. Her vocal performance has definitely improved but in general the presentation of the song was so much better when Kasey moved around the stage a bit.
Still crossing fingers for a top ten placing for Can Linn and Kasey xx

In general, this is good enough to qualify. Vocals still need a fair bit of work before I can safely say Dublin 2015.

kasey has had a sour throat so she could be resting it, ill admit she wasn’t fantastic but she was good enough.

I actually think her vocals are fantastic, she sounds exactly the same in the studio version and live. Can linn & Kasey Smith has improved so much! The Irish team listen to all critical points & they have progressed/advanced vocals, choreography of the dances and the whole performances! Their outfits are modern/celtic just like the music, at the start I wasn’t sure about Kasey’s dress but seeing it in the 2nd rehearsal she looks AMAZING!! I love the background imagery and the wind machine, it’s like a professional/famous worldwide artists performance, not whacky or attention seeking just a wonderful show!… Read more »

kasey dosent really need a strong vocal, all she needs is not to go off-key, denmark won with a weak vocal last year is a good example.

You people need to understand that this is what rehearsals are for. To make improvements and corrections. To see what is working and what is not working. It’s never perfect first or second rehearsal. Changes will be made right up untill the the dress rehearsal the day of the contest. All the countries in this semi have so many dress rehearsals run through starting the day before the semi and the actualy day of the semi so there is still lots of runs lefts for each country to make improvements.

This is a really nice song. However, in spite of her vocal improvement and all, she still sounds weak, like fragile. Heartbeat is a good song to listen to, but there is too much going on for it (although this certainly isn’t OTT for ESC) and the staging is distracting.
As someone has stated here below, she looks as if she were to sing a different kind of song, and you notice that. Dunno… had some hopes for Ireland scraping into the top ten, but I have my doubts now. Hope they qualify, though!!

Why is the girl singing here different than in the Irish Selection?

Poor performance
The weakest in the semi
As an Irish man I do fear it will be at the bottom of the semi table

Wow, that was much better than the 1st rehearsal. With that said, she still needs to improve her vocals. However, they have improved. Improve them even more and she is in my opinion an almost certain qualifier.

Her voice is not strong enough to be in this company, but I have liked the song from the moment I heard it

the performance doesn’t really match the song-I mean, the song is pretty fast moving but she’s dressed in some prom dress like she’s singing a slow moving ballad. and I’m not crazy about the dancers either. I love the song but I’m afraid it won’t do very well.

What speaks for Kasey and Can-linn is that Kasey is indeed an Ok and stabile singer.. also the irish entry is very special and has a special sound that is exclusive for Heartbeat this year. I think Ireland with some luck to enter the top10 for sure..

honestly i wouldnt mind if it won……

Lets face it. Kasey is a beautiful girl. and an OK singer.. but her voice isnt spectacular or special. her song is amazing but she is only an OK singer..it doesnt mix well..

A beautiful girl, looks really statuesque, but not much of a voice I’m afraid. The whole riverdancing thing looks forced and unnecessary. I like the background they have chosen. The song is much better than this live performance…

Ireland are one of my favorites this year, but they wont win. The performance is amazing and it its gaining momentum across Europe so we will wait and see. I so hope they get to the top 10 though.
