Last night, Romania’s Paula and Ovi closed the second semi-final with a spectacular performance of “Miracle”. Was it better than “Playing With Fire” from four years ago?

The team from wiwibloggs were in the arena and we are now covered in bruises: Fans were dancing so hard to this we got elbowed more than a few times! The Eurovision returnees’ show wasn’t just well received by the live audience. Televoters and juries clearly loved it too, as they predictably pushed “Miracle” into the Grand Final.

Back in 2010, Paula and Ovi brought a glass double piano and literally played with fire. Their amazing performance is still one of the most memorable Eurovision moments in recent history and brought Romania its highest placing yet: third position.

This year there were shades of 2010. They referenced and reinvented their piano and Paula’s high notes were still there. But this looked and sounded entirely different. The duo brought a round piano, a very telegenic hologram-like projection and an 18-second long note that has already smashed Malta’s record of 13 seconds.

We will find out on Saturday whether Paula Seling and Ovi will repeat or top their 2010 placement. Until then, we’re curious to see which performance you prefer.

Don’t forget to defend your choice below!

Even though it makes the horribly cliched rhyme, “fire” with “desire”, “Playing with Fire” walks all over “Miracle” – sets light to it, in fact! It was a much more enjoyable and fun song, far more entertaining to listen to and watch. Also Paula’s leather onesie was a stand-out fashion choice compared to this year’s sparkly nightie. “Miracle” is an eighties Pop Rock soundtrack to a car commercial. And WHEN is she going to do something about that low hair-line? BANGS, Paula, BANGS!!!!

Well, I think they will win with a weaker song this year:)… Everybody says Playing with fire was a winning song but they didn’t win;))) After seeing them yesterday I am sure they will produce that Miracle… Paula is passing through the screen.. she is “screaming” VICTORY, despite all critics..

Playing with fire was maybe better. The problem is that everyone is comparing the new song with the first one. It should be compared with the rest of the 2014 ESC songs. And it is, by far, a good one. It has all the right things: two great voices, two beautiful persons, good song.

Both are pretty generic BUT Playing with fire was at least a little more innovative, and I liked it a lot more. Besides, 2010’s double glass piano was amazing, creative and gorgeous looking, and besides, it was an active part of the act, this year’s round piano just looks ridiculous and for most part of the performance is just standing there, in my opinion it doesn’t fit with the whole act as its 2010 couterpart.

Playing with fire by far. Miracle is a little bit of everything and Ovi’s playing of that ridiculous looking piano is so so OTT he looks out of place, I reckon would have been a lot better with just Paula.
However, Romania will probably be top 10 and will score well. Won’t win though. Sorry Romanian fans. 🙁
Good luck anyway

Miracle is still a mess of a song, despite being decent.

Playing With Fire was such a level of genius that cannot be touched.

“Miracle” is a awful, forced and messed up thingy. “Playing with Fire” was fun, fresh, flirty and it felt like a song, with a melody I remember till this day after 4 years. I can’t even hum Miracle after yesterdays performance.

Playing with Fire is far better, Miracle is a total disaster

They said rain was the “miracle of the life” and this is the reason they use dancers in the rain on the video. Ok, so, where is the rain?

I think both are rather awful to be honest.
And Miracle’s staging is really bizarre. The “hologram” looked ridiculous, the piano was never really used and the weird hug-singing made my entire viewing party laugh out loud.
I guess I just don’t get it…

Paula we love you!

Playing with fire was well constructed song with a memorable melody and chorus. Miracle is different elements thrown together to form a misconfigured mishmash.
