In 1997, the duo Jalisse sang ‘Fiumi di Parole’ as Italy made their comeback in the Eurovision Song Contest. Now they are taking part in a project entitled  “SONG OF THE KNIGHT”, which is dedicated to the Journée Mondiale des Chevaliers (World Day of the Knights and the Cavalry).

They’re inviting lyricists of all ages and from all over the world to submit lyrics for a new song, honoring the values of knighthood and the cavalry. (Think horses, chain metal, damsels in distress and duels to the death). The winner will obtain an editorial agreement, eventually leading to a recording by Jalisse in August 2014. The duo will promote the song as their new single.

The authors can present work covering the following topics: friendship, solidarity, gallantry, cavalry, dreams, ambition, kindness, respect, courtesy. The work can be written in Italian, English, French, Spanish or German. In case the work is written by several authors, the application must be presented together. The work must correspond to the following composition:

–          Verse (2 quatrains)

–          Chorus (2 quatrains)

–          Verse (2 quatrains)

–          Chorus (2 quatrains)

–          Bridge (1 quatrain)

–          Chorus (2 quatrains)

–          Rhymes by choice (AABB, ABAB, ABBA, ABCB)

The website songofhteknight.wordpress.com has provided an example of the requested lyrics composition and some links for further information.  The jury will consist of two halves. Fabio Ricci and Alessandra Drusian (the Jalisse duo) will judge the work on its musical and technical merits, and members of the J.M.D.C. organization will evalute the work’s thematic content. The application form can also be found on songofhteknight.wordpress.com
