The names of potential Melodifestivalen 2015 singers are coming thick and fast. Yesterday we had yellow in our eyes with the news that Sean Banan wants to compete. And today Aftonbladet has three more names rolling off our tongues: Rickard Söderberg, Charlotte Perrelli and Lili & Susie.
Rickard Söderberg — #melfest semi-finalist?
The paper reports that Swedish opera star Söderberg is already confirmed as an act. The opera tenor appeared on the Swedish show “Clash of the Choirs” last October, so Melodifestivalen seems to be the latest step in his journey into the mainstream. Our initial thoughts are that he’s got a powerful voice—and wears a lot of mascara! He rivals YOHIO with his glam rock quotient.
Lili & Susie — Searching for a Melodifestivalen song
Sisters Lili Päivärinta and Susie Päivärinta had a string of hits in the late 80s and early 90s, including 1987’s “Oh Mama”. They placed fifth at Melodifestivalen 1989 with their song “Okey okey”, and made it to the second chance round in 2009 with their song “Show Me Heaven”. Aftonbladet cites sources who say the sisters want to return and that producers are now considering if any of the selected songs are suitable for them.
Charlotte Perrelli — Two-time winner returns?
Last, and certainly not least, is Miss Charlotte Perrelli, the winner of Eurovision 1999 in Jerusalem, and the winner of Melodifestivalen 1999 and 2008. “She is excited to be involved again and looking at tunes,” according to an anonymous source quoted by the paper.
Who are you most excited by? Let us know in the comments box below!
Charlotte Perrelli will play the musical Evita the whole winter and spring. It’s not possible that she’s will take part
I’d really like to see some new and upcoming talents from Melfest this year. Sweden usually comes up with a good list, but let’s hope there’s no throw away entries this time around.
Again, Charles, I still think you’re making a bigger deal out of this makeup or whatever than it actually is. For a rock-styled singer this is pretty standard. This isn’t even remotely close to the sort of display that Conchita was putting on. Yes, some people will be distracted by it, but people are distracted by any singer’s dress and looks regardless of the performer. Just look at how people were obsessed with how “old” Sanna looked last year (as though putting on a mature presentation were a bad thing). I feel like Soderberg is getting singled out for something… Read more »
It all comes down to the song & the singer’s ability to deliver.
I have no issues with the artists mentioned. I don’t care about their make-up.
@Alex: Imagine Charlotte following the same path as Sanna Nielsen … how copy-strategy-cat would that be? Fredrik Kempe repeating himself again? And be careful, no one is addressing Charlotte as a gimmick, thank God for that, the woman can sing … but at this stage I’m sorry there are far more interesting singers and performers in Sweden able to be in MF that I rather follow than Charlotte. 3 times was enough for me … not excited or interested to see her again. Sorry. And again, Söderberg may be good at his operatic singing but it all looks and sounds… Read more »
I would love to see Charlotte Perrelli again and maybe Amanda Jenssen and Veronica Maggio. I also would love to see Oscar Zia and Malena Ernman or maybe a Malin Reitan and Ulrik Munther duet.
Does Charlotte really deserve this amount of negativity? Y’all are acting like she’s some sort of Thorsten Flinck or something and you don’t even know what song she’s coming with. Remember Sanna came back with something totally different from her previous performance, which (“I’m In Love”) was the cheesiest song that Fredrik Kempe could have possibly come up with outside of Manboy. The same thing applies for Soderborg, who’s perfectly capable of a better live performance than at least Amaury Vassili, for instance. Some breath control issues, but otherwise just fine. The “makeup” barely sticks out at all… and I… Read more »
@Charles, respect!
Everything is spot on, I couldn’t even find better words.
All three would be dreadful. Please, some good singers is all I ask for.
Oh my god … as if the Sean Banan thing was dreadful enough, now Charlotte wants to come back (as if she was another Carola) and most likely with the same kind of Kempe crap, Lilly and Suzie still haven’t woken up to understand their schlager rubbish is .. rubbish, and … *hold your breath* … an opera male singer with glam/heavy metal rock looks and using a lot of female make up and accessories for some strange reason … And I feel sorry because “O Helga Natt” is my fav xmas Swedish classic as well as the English “O… Read more »
Oh, no… I thought Charlotte Perrelli had learned her lesson after the ESC 2008 debacle.
I hope to see Charlotte back.
Rickard Söderberg would be great, I adore him. For the others, I couldn’t care less. They have had their thing and desperately tries to blow life in it again
Exactly the same bad start up as last year in Swedish Melodifestivalen
Not interesting at all!
if helena confirms i hope she has a better song than last year because that was pretty bad
Helena might have submitted a song, yet she is still not confirmed…
Helena Paparizou is confirmed to be Melodifestivalen 2015!!! She submitted a song by September!!! Helena will win for sure now.
I must say: I’m still a fan of Kalle Johansson.
