Hadise, Turkey’s 2009 participant in Eurovision whose heart was going “Dum Tek Tek”, has released her new single “Prenses”. You don’t have to be a royal-watcher to understand that means “Princess”.
The video unfolds at a wedding ceremony, and naturally Hadise is the bride. There are no men — women rule the roost — and the lyrics have a feminist bent. She basically says she wants the same attention from her husband as she receives from her father. The main theme is hidden in this sentence of the song: “Kadinin gucunu hafife alma.” That means: “Do not underestimate the strength of women.”.
We never underestimate you, Hadise!

HADISE – “PRENSES” LYRICS
Ne zaferinden bahsediyorsun
Savasla aski karistirmissin
Cik o karanliktan, siperinden
Sen beni hep dusman varsaymissin
Sen rekabet iste
Ben buna bayiliyorum
Kadinin gucunu hafife alma
Erkeklik gururun vardir sanirim
Perisan olup da zor durumda kalma
[Chorus]
Istersen bana ukala mukala de
El ustunde tutulmazsam, hep el kalirim
Prensesler gibiydim ben baba evinde
Ozgurlugume golgeyi hakaret sayarim!

It’s a big shame that Turkey decited to stay away from Eurovision. 🙁
