Armenia’s Aram MP3 has given us another Christmas present: a new song called “Magic”. As with his earlier songs like “Just Go On”, he retains a bit of James Brown flair and a respect for 1970s disco. But as a whole this is definitely different. He opens with scatting, giving this number a stylish Old World feel, and the bee bop doo wop continues at various points in the song. It’s upbeat and happy, while at the same time giving you that loungey-after-hours feeling.
Many fans will love this, but it’s not my cup of tea. It isn’t fun waiting nearly half a minute for the song to begin, and it lacks the oomph that “Not Alone” had. Lyrically, it’s no better: the song is saturated with typical weather and magic-related similes.
Regardless, we are glad to see him continue to make music after Eurovision and look forward to his next offering!

I like this! Still think ‘If I Tried’ is his best song by a long mile, with Not Alone close behind. Obvs loved his cover of Jealousy because what non-Azeri didn’t?!!
