On March 23 we asked our readers to start voting for their favourites to win Eurovision 2015 semi final 2. As of 16:00 GMT on 21 April, we had collected a total of 12,259 votes. Molly Sterling’s song may be called ‘Playing With Numbers’ but according to our poll there’s only one number she’s playing with: number one. Ireland‘s act for Eurovision 2015 continues to lead the poll with 1,683 votes.

Sweden‘s Måns Zelmerlöw narrowly trails with 1,396 votes and is followed in third by Slovenia‘s Maraaya with 1,195 votes. The Top 3 remains unchanged since last update and collectively has over 30% of all votes cast.

However, Malta‘s Amber has blazed past Azerbaijan‘s Elnur Huseynov into fourth place since our last update. Malta’s warrior has 1041 votes and has left Elnur in a close fifth on 933.

The other five qualifiers are the same: Norway, Iceland, Portugal, Israel and Latvia. Check out the order though – Iceland and Portugal have overtaken Israel. Latvia’s Aminata is only just clinging on to that last qualifying spot too. Switzerland‘s Mélanie René may be in eleventh place but only 24 votes separate her and Aminata.

Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Cyprus and San Marino remain adrift of the ten qualifying spots.

CURRENT STANDINGS OF SEMI FINAL 2 (AS OF 21 APRIL)

10 qualifiers for the semifinal 2 (my prediction, not my personal opinion)
1. Sweden
2. Slovenia
3. Azerbaijan
4. Norway
5. Israel
6. Czech Rep (welcomed)
7. Iceland
8. Montenegro
9. Poland
10. Switzerland

Malta as Belarus 2011 changed the rhythm of the song and the probably votes gone, so not qualify.
Iceland is too childish. Do not deserve the final.

Here now, the same 10 criteria I used for my 1st wave of evaluations, I used for my 2nd wave. With Latvia and Azerbaijan dropping out of the top 10, here are my evaluations now:

9.49 Lithuania (up 2; a music video helps, even if only a little)
9.48 Montenegro
9.47 Ireland (up 1)
9.46 Sweden (down 3; Måns had better hurry with that replacement video)
9.46 Norway (down 3)
9.31 Cyprus (up 1)
9.29 Slovenia (new)
9.27 Iceland
9.23 Poland (new)
9.17 Israel (down 1)

Ireland is absolutely incredible. Doubt it will win but hopefully it does qualify.

I hope Portugal causes a surprise and gets through as well – there are only two non-English songs in this Semi and I’d love to see at least one get through, if not both.

@Chris, now that you put it that way, maybe it would be interesting to make a comparison between the results of a poll based on personal taste and another based on predictions. At the very least we could determine if the fanbase that frequents this site is capable of putting aside fanatism for once. Kind of like a social experiment.
On the other hand, if you want the most popular predictions, just go see the betting odds. I know that my top three is ecactly the same as the bookies’ (personal taste aside)

@Tina: If I’m not mistaken, Latvia has yet to make a music video. Not that it matters, because of the 3 Baltic entries here, though the music is excellent, the lyrics don’t make any sense, and I think Aminata will be the one to fall by the wayside. Estonia has an outstanding story within its song, and a video to go with it; and Lithuania has outstanding lyrics and music for their song. If they both qualify (which they should), I expect them to slug it out for points as they campaign for the top 10.

@Tina: Austria should; they made videos for Conchita and Natália. Germany came late with their video for Elaiza; I expect one of the following: (1) They’ll release a video for Ann Sophie late in the month or early in May, or (2) Their confidence, following Andreas’ withdrawal, may have been so thoroughly shattered that they might not make a video this time, because they don’t believe they stand a chance. Portugal didn’t make a video for Suzy last year. I doubt very much that they will make one for Leonor; and if she has even a small chance of qualifying… Read more »

@ Mar
But you’re forgetting that the taste of Eurovision’s fans is very specific and rarely covers with the final outcome. In May very various and random viewers will vote. It is not the same. If the question was “who will win”, people here would take into consideration other factors than just their personal taste, for example: neighbouring voting, juries’ taste, message issue etc. By the way, even some readers here are naming the list of the coutries which should win and which will win. Therefore, the separate voting could be interesting. But it is just proposition.

Well comparing to who we want to winthe entire poll, this one makes no sense…clearly this isnt accurate. I believe the top ten will go like this.
1. Sweden
2. Slovenia
3. Azerbaijan
4. Norway
5. Israel
6. Czech Republic ((juries and neighbor voting.))
7. Lithuania
8. Poland
9. Latvia
10. Ireland

IMO the certain qualifiers are : Sweden,Norway,Azerbaijan
Certain Non qualifiers : San Marino,Israel,Portugal,Switzerlands
and then its a battle between 10 for the final 7 spots. Poland would be a cert non qualifier if she was anywhere else other than 17th int he running order tbh.

Come on guys, you complain about Cyprus, Montenegro, and San Marino being boring or old fashioned and leave them in the bottom three, but then you vote Ireland on top???

Hahahaha!

I don’t really see the point in voting for who you think will win. There is an obvious correlation between personal taste and succes/popularity at Eurovision. Surely the night of the show people won’t vote for who they think is the most likely winner, but for the act they like the most.

I still think Molly is at best a borderline qualifier, but she might be able to pull a Common Linnets and get an undeserved high placing in the final with the right staging.
One thing I’m willing to bet my life on, is that Portugal won’t qualify.

@:) , a dark horse, my guess Malta , because at first i really hated the song when she was screeching during National Final. but now the new version i really Love, because at first there was really no orchestra so plenty of room to overscream it, but now with the orchestra her voice really has more passion and she starts slow, i listen every day to this song, and i love it more and more. the storytelling is awesome, love her background doing charity work in Tanzania , also charity work for people with down syndrome. so i don’t… Read more »

I really think Norway is gonna win this thing called Eurovision 2015, so SF2 for them will be an easy thing to face. But, I want to ask you, Eurofans, who do you think is the REAL dark horse of this SF? I am sure it’s Latvia

I feel like it’ll probably be a repeat of last year with Ireland, that song performing #2 kills it and I’m not sure how it will look good on the stage – kinda sucks because she’s an amazing talent, but it will 100% definitely not win the same semi final that has Sweden, Slovenia, Azerbaijan, etc.

Except for Sweden, I can agree with the top 5. (Would put Norway instead Sweden) It’s the first time I really liked a song from Azerbaijan, and I loved the revamped version of Malta. Far away better than the song of national final, which I thought so annoying. Slovenia is, of course, the best of this semi. Ireland definitely must go to the Final, is their best song in years. My qualifiers (no particular order): Ireland, Slovenia, Norway, Azerbaijan, Malta, Sweden, Lithuania and Cyprus. I don’t like the others songs, but for the last 2 spots I would put Poland… Read more »

My take: 1. Ireland: Overhyped as usual in these polls. Not stating it is a bad song but it will have a hard time qualifying and may miss out. The reaction online and everything doesn’t help. Not to mention that second place draw. 2. Sweden: By far the favourite of the night. Should go down well with both televoters and Mans strong voice will reel in the judges. An easy choice for first place. 3. Slovenia: One of the best songs Slovenia have sent. If it can qualify last year, it will qualify this year especially since this semi almost… Read more »

@Marco, this could be right, lack of allies has proven it’s point in the past and it will again. I think Israel is a non qualifier again because lack of neighbouring countries or friends. Malta or Sweden have lots of friend countries who will probably vote for them, Australia and Malta are i thought also friends

This is definitely the more exciting semi final of the 2.

#1-7 are pretty accurate, throw in Latvia, Lithuania and Montenegro and that’s the top 10 there.

I still don’t understand the love for Ireland though.

You guys are conflating two separate questions… who “should” win can be interpreted as a matter of personal preference, whereas who “will” win is for sure about predicting who will be the most popular. That being said, it would be hard to get people to vote on this site for who they actually think will qualify – they’ll probably just vote for their favorite acts in order to give them some support. It’s not like ESCtoday where people actually vote for who they *think* will win, because there’s a contest where the person who gives the best guesses wins a… Read more »

Apart from Ireland, the poll could be quite accurate, I expect a close race between the places 5 – 12. My personal prediction of qualifiers, in no particular order: Slovenia, Sweden, Azerbaijan, Norway, Latvia, Switzerland, Israel, Poland, Malta, Montenegro. –>The first 4 in my opinion almost certain, the other ones only with a relatively small difference between each other and to place 11. Non-qualifiers thus Czech Republic, Ireland, San Marino, Portugal, Iceland, Cyprus, Lithuania. –>Mainly because of expected lack of support/”allies” for these countries. Already interested in the voting pattern, since we have the… ermmm… *suspicious* package of Azerbaijan, Malta,… Read more »

Sweden is a song which anyone can sing, overrated as hell.

Swap Portugal for Lithuania and I think that could be the ten qualifiers we will have in May. I think this is a very open semi so a poor vocal on the night could prove costly, sure look at Israel and Ireland last year. Speaking of Ireland, Molly won’t win but I still expect her to qualify – around 6th or 7th place.

go Malta, just being supportive, not spamming. a lot of people like this song from Azerbaijan, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, some from Lithuania. i think her lyrics are better then Georgia. and people say Amber is too sweet and kind for a Warrior, well i got your Answer Amber the Disney Warrior in a good way. love it more than angry face Nina.

People i’m not spamming, just being a fan , i also like Ireland very talented girl. good voice from Molly, much better than last years Kasey Smith.

Ireland has a good song, but there are better songs. I won’t count it out on qualifying, but it will definitely not win the semi final, mark my words. That victory will go to either Slovenia, Sweden or Norway.
