He’s been a favourite to win for weeks, and finally Loïc Nottet has come through, winning the sixth series of the French show Danse avec les stars.
Loïc and dance partner Denitsa Ikonomova scored perfect tens from the judging panel for their two dances in the final — a lively Broadway jazz dance to “Don’t Rain on My Parade” by Barbra Streisand, and a reprise of their contemporary dance to Sia’s “Chandelier”.
They finished with a freestyle to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now”. This time the scoring was left to the public vote, with Loïc and Denitsa winning a landslide 68% of the vote against French singer and actress Priscilla Betti and her partner Christophe Licata – the highest winning percentage of all six series.
Belgian Loïc is the first non-French winner of Danse avec les stars, but he follows a long tradition of singers winning the show. Previous DALS victors have included Alizée and Shy’m.
Loïc also joins the list of stars from the world of Eurovision who have enjoyed success on Dancing with the Stars – Norway’s 2013 Melodi Grand Prix runner-up Adelén won Skal vi danse? earlier this year.
The Belgium prime minister Charles Michel tweeted congratulations to Loïc.
Félicitations @L0oiic et à Denitsa pour ces incroyables prestations. Quel talent fou! #DALSFinale

Loïc has been recording material for his debut album, and he recently performed an acoustic version of “Rhythm Inside” at a charity concert in Belgium.

This is HUGE. He won the show and he was unknown before the show. Loic is truly talented and i wish him the best of luck to his career. I wish he had released an album and capitalise on the success of Dancing with the stars in France. Rhythm Inside is charting on Belgian and French iTunes now! He was the 2nd most successful Eurovision 2015 artist this year. Belgium is again interested in the contest thanks to his success. In my opinion, Belgium and Italy deserved to win this year. If Rhythm Inside had taken part in 2013, Belgium… Read more »
