Lithuania’s marathon Eurovision 2016 selection show continues to trundle along. Tonight was the fifth show of Eurovizijos atranka 2016, but due to some more tinkering by LRT, we’re only at the halfway point. The pre-recorded episode returned to those competing in the second stream — singers who entered the process without their own songs. Ten acts performed, but only eight could make it through to the next stage. Aiste Pilvelyte won the last heat, and once again she emerged on top. Our readers agreed on our poll but came last with the Wiwi Jury.

Show Five Running Order

Baiba – “Mayday”

Aiste Pilvelyte – “You Bet”

International – Denis Ingoldsby and Dave Holmes (both UK), Karlis Auzans (Latvia).

After last week’s tussle between Donny Montell and Ruta Šciogolevaite, it was a straightforward decision for the Lithuanian juries, with Aiste Pilvelyte receiving the maximum 12 points.

I also wanted to add I’ve never seen any negative comments from Robyn towards another user’s opinion. Saying you wish one song qualified over another isn’t targeting an individual. I just did it myself about MayDay and I’m not calling out the user who likes the song. If we can’t say which songs we like and don’t like there will be very little left to talk about. If you are saying “you are wrong, how could you think that song would qualify you stupid idiot” that’s different but I’ve never seen Robyn do anything even close to that, she’s a… Read more »

Well it’s all subjective but I don’t think Mayday was eliminated because it’s an artist contest…it really was (in my opinion) a dreadful song, and the dancing was so ridiculous. If I was one of those backing singers I would have been so embarrased. It may have been suitable for JESC but even then I don’t think it would have done well nowadays. Definately not suitable for ESC. It did make me laugh out loud at how bad it was, and I like that we have fun entries to laugh at but on the other hand, I don’t want casual… Read more »

Unfortunately one of the best songs of this year got eliminated. I really believe Baiba’s Mayday got great potential. Some think it’s outdated but I personally think that’s a load of BS. Mayday stands out from the rest and is by far the most interesting song in this years Lithuaninan line up. Too bad this really is an artist popularity contest rather than a song contest.

I don’t want to start any infighting on here but from what i’ve seen, Robyn’s comments have been just fine. I don’t understand what your problem is Baxter? Lots of people comment on multiple articles and we all have different opinions, Eurovision is a topic we’re passionate about.

Back to the topic in hand – I didn’t love any of these songs but it’s a shame Berta’s didn’t make it through, that was alright.

There’s not much to like in Lithuania but they eliminated two of the better songs.

Robyn im not referring to your comments on this article but most that you feel the need to comment on.
You have your opinions on songs or artists and thats fine. Other people will have a different view so there is no need to squash what they have to say. No need to say they are wrong. chill out.
You’re suppose to be a representative of this website but instead i find you a bully and need i remind you that you’re a “music unprofessional” so no need to parade yourself like you are Andrew Lloyd Webber.
