Last Saturday, the team from wiwibloggs found themselves in the green room in Háskólabíó, for the second semi-final of Iceland’s Söngvakeppni 2016. Three acts were chosen by the nation in a clear-cut televote, including 22 year old Elísabet Ormslev. She also happens to be the daughter of Helga Möller, who was part of Iceland’s ICY trio at Eurovision 1986. We caught up with Elísabet just before the result was revealed.
Elísabet Ormslev Interview
Elísabet was more than thrilled about her performance, although she admitted that she was rather relieved that it was over, and went so smoothly. But does it add pressure to be the daughter of a Eurovision veteran? “No, not really. I get more support if anything”, Elísabet answered with a smile on her face. She was pumped, and so were we!
In the meantime, it has been confirmed that Elísabet’s song “Á ny” will be the only entry to be performed in Icelandic in the final. So she’ll be bringing us some genuine Icelandic girl-power.

Is Eurovision a family business? What do you think?
I like it 🙂 I would still prefer Raddirnar / Hear Them Calling, but this one is nice too.
