Sergey Lazarev, Russia’s internally selected act for Stockholm, has released his entry, “You Are The Only One” and it’s confirmed Russia as a serious contender to win Eurovision 2016. As Sergey sings in the song lyrics, “Thunder and lightning, it’s getting exciting”.
“You Are The Only One” is an upbeat pop track with hints of schlager. Sergey sings of his lost love, a person he is determined to get back – “You will always be the only one”.
The pre-chorus has the killer line, “Thunder and lightning, it’s getting exciting”. He’s harnessing the power of nature to track down his loved one. When the chorus comes along, Sergey makes a declaration of love, “You’re my only one/You’re my life, every breath that I take”.
Will Sergey track down his lost love? Will Russia score its second Eurovision victory? We’ll soon find out!

Total cliché, completely rubbish pimped with some video. Yes, that is probably typical eurovision songfestival. But I would be pleased to see a more innovative or sincere song win. Should there be any, as the level of entries is very mediocre.

Compared with other contestants this year, this song is highly competitive. Any the visual effect onstage are stunning. Go Russia!

Are these commenters serious? This song is the best in the competition, and to me it looks like it is going to be the clear winner this year.
Awful song but once the block Russian family vote for them it will be in top 3 again, that’s the trouble since the arrival of the eastern block it’s not a song contest anymore. Yes in the past there was neighbour voting but not like it is now . Malta should do better but they are a small island with no neighbours.
Formulaic! That’s the trouble with a prescriptive jury voting marking scheme – it promotes homogeneity and ultimately mediocrity
