Kristína Peláková might have missed out on the Eurovision grand final in 2010, but her career has only gone from strength to strength in the years since. After dazzling us with the spellbinding “Na Bieleho Kona” in 2015, the Slovak songstress returns with “Si Pre Mna Best” or “You Are The Best For Me”.
Kristína sings about her special guy, telling him that he can never be substituted — “no one will replace you… One of us will always come back” — and that there aren’t enough hours in the day to spend with him — “the day has so few hours. We found an island where there is only you”. Meanwhile, we’re wondering how many times we can play this catchy track in one day.
The music video bears more that a passing resemblance to Taylor Swift’s MTV VMA winning (and Kanye West enraging) “You Belong With Me“. Like Tay Tay, a shy and awkward Kristína fantasises about the cute jock at school before undergoing a classic makeover. She becomes the belle of the ball, snatching her handsome hunk from cheer captain Kristína’s clutches. The clip captures the song’s endearing qualities and the infectious beat is easy to fall in love with. Much like “Ta Ne“, the track is upbeat and full of energy. We dare you to try to sit still while this one is playing!

Despite being a firm fan favourite in 2010, Kristína failed to qualify for the Eurovision final. “Horehronie” finished 16th in its semi-final with 24 points. After failing to qualify again in 2011 and 2012, Slovakia bowed out of the song contest and is yet to return. With artists like Kristína at their disposal, we want to see them back very soon.

I still love HOREHRONIE!
Should have qualified
Why does she look like Eneda Tarifa on the bike?
