Spring has finally arrived in Iceland, and along with it some joyous news from one of Iceland’s former contestants.

Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir — the actress behind Eurovision’s most controversial (and foul-mouthed) drama queen Silvia Night — is expecting her second child.

For the past year Ágústa has been in a relationship with Aron Pálmarsson, one of Iceland´s best handball players, who is currently playing for the Hungarian championship team Vezsprém.

This is Aron’s first child, but Ágústa has a son from a previous relationship. The couple flew under the radar to begin with. But after being seen together on several occasions, they finally went public with their relationship in December.

During her stint as Silvia Night in Athens, the actress sparked outrage more than once.

She refused to remove the F-word from her performance of “Congratulations”, thereby keeping everyone on their toes during her time on stage. She also claimed that the Swedish power diva and Eurovision alumna Carola was having an affair with fellow Swede Svante Stockselius — then Executive Supervisor of the EBU.

She later staged an impromptu press conference where she claimed she didn’t reach the final because she wasn’t “a slut from Holland.”

After failing to reach the finals, Silvia disappeared from the spotlight and, according to Ágústa Eva, she is enjoying her pension on some remote island in the Caribbean, and will never return to Iceland again.

But Ágústa herself came home and has acted steadily alongside her singing. She is now one of Iceland’s most distinguished and respected actresses, and also has a musical side project called Sycamore Tree, where she sings with her friend Gunnar Hilmarsson. The duo brought their own version of “Save your kisses for me” in the second semi finals of Söngvakeppni.

We at wiwibloggs wish Ágústa and Aron all the best on their new path in life.

I don’t know what’s funnier–Sylvia herself or the way the Greek press reacted to her.

The Greeks didn’t quite get the joke, so they seriously reported about how the Icelandic representative threatened to kill herself after failing to qualify for the final. The videotaped the whole tantrum as if the woman was having a breakdown.
