She’s the Australian singer with aboriginal roots who represented Australia as the guest interval act during the second semi final of Eurovision 2014.

And three years later Jessica Mauboy has more momentum than ever, which she proved last week with the release of her new song “Fallin'”.

During her three-minute ballad Jessica sings about trying to walk away from someone and her tendency to be “that girl that has to play it safe”. But there’s something about this guy and she just “can’t help fallin’ for you”.

The song has a pure, simple sound. During the verses Jess sings without any backing, putting her soulful vocals on fine display. Rich, melodic and backed by major power, she builds and builds, only to deliver a dreamy, echoing sound in the chorus.

Update: Music video released 26 June 2017

The release of the single comes as Jess, who is currently making a name for herself as an actress, continues filming the second series of The Secret Daughter — the second highest rated Australian television show of 2016.

In the series Jessica portrays the country pub singer Billie, who has a chance encounter with a wealthy hotelier which sends her life through all sorts of twists and turns. Her character is a singer, so there is plenty of music in the series. In fact, much of it was released on the soundtrack album The Secret Daughter (Songs from the Original TV Series).

It included five original songs and 12 cover versions of songs by artists such as Roxette, Crowded House, The Clash and Ed Sheeran. It also featured the original song “Risk It”, released as the lead single. The album also made history. It topped the charts Down Under, making Jess the first indigenous artist to reach #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

On Friday Jess uploaded three black-and-white images to Instagram, all of which show her on her way to set.

In one photo she’s seen in the hair and make-up room alongside Bonnie Sveen, her co-star who is perhaps best known for her role on Home and Away.

In another she looks every inch the Hollywood star, wearing a pair of sunglasses as she stares out of the window of her sedan, which ferries her to set.

Given how much Jess sings in the series, could we soon hear her delivering “Fallin'” on air during the show? And do you want to see her at Eurovision again — this time competing? Let us know in the comments box below!

Fallin’ lyrics — Jessica Mauboy

[Verse 1] Something about the way you drive me up the wall
And there’s something about the way it leaves me wanting more
Oh, my-y-y-y, I’ve been that girl that has to play it safe
So I-I-I-I
I try-y-y-y, to find the reasons I should walk away
Cause I don’t want to want you like I do
But I can’t help fallin’ for

[Chours] You
Yeah, I can’t help fallin’ for
You
Yeah, yeah

[Verse 2] Never thought I would be the one to say
That I was kinda thinking that maybe you could stay
Oh, my-y-y-y, I’ve been that girl who has to play it safe
So I-I-I-I
I try-y-y-y, to find the reasons I should walk away
Cause I don’t want to want you like I do, yeah
But I can’t help fallin’ for

[Chours] You
Yeah, I can’t help fallin’ for
You, yeah
Fallin’ for you
I can’t help fallin’ for you
Fallin’ for you
I can’t help fallin’ for you

[Bridge] Oh, my-y-y-y, I’ve been that girl who has to play it safe
So I-I-I-I
I try-y-y-y, to find the reasons I should walk away
Cause I don’t want to want you like I do, hey

[Post- Bridge] But I can’t help fallin’ for you
Yeah I can’t help fallin’ for you
I can’t help fallin’ for you

[Outro] Fallin’ for you
I can’t help it
Fallin’ for you
I can’t, can’t, I can’t help fallin’ for you

And no one cares. Jessica Mauboy’s career has never recovered from her awful performance at Eurovision. I see someone suggested her as a contestant at Lisbon…. I guess they didn’t see her awful performance.
