Since his Top 10 finish in Stockholm, France’s Amir has been riding a wave of popularity that’s unprecedented for a French Eurovision act. Like the Olympic flame, his fire just won’t quit. And Amir is most definitely lit.

So it’s only natural that Amir — one of France’s pop stars of the moment — headlined “Paris A Nous Les Jeux” (Paris, The Games Are Ours!), a massive outdoor concert to celebrate the country’s successful bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games last Friday.

Working a refined rock star look, Amir slipped into an all-black outfit that consisted of a stylish leather jacket, a snug turtle neck and well-fitted trousers that clung to each of his contours.

The look contrasted sharply with his multicolour lyric video, which played in the background of the stage at Hôtel de Ville.

Amir “Etats d’amour” live at the Paris 2024 concert

Singing of broken hearts, unrequited romance and a love seen in “films en noir et blanc”, the Eurovision 2016 representative brought an edgy, avant-garde sound, which melded harmoniously with his dulcet tones. The track, sung entirely in French, straddles the boundary between classy and contemporary, and is a more artistic offering than his Eurovision 2016 track.

Amir was joined by 10 other artists, including Eurovision 1993 entrant Patrick Fiori, Shy’m and One Direction’s Liam Payne.

The concert celebrated Paris’ election as host city for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The International Olympic Committee unanimously picked the French capital as host city on Wednesday at their meeting in Lima, Peru. And Amir celebrated with a rendition of Queen’s “We are the Champions”…because is there any song more suitable in this situation?

Last Friday’s concert kickstarted Amir’s promotion for his forthcoming album and his new song. His second studio album “Au coeur de moi” was only released last year, but his new album “Addictions” will drop on October 27. Get ready.

And it seems that Parisians already are. Nearly 600,000 viewers watched les etoilles perform and thousands crowded the square to watch them live.

Just take a look at Amir’s Instagram photo — further proof that he only knows how to slay.

As a passionate sports enthusiast, Amir is looking forward to the Games. In an interview on radio station Europe 1 prior to the concert, he stated that he “can’t wait for 2024”, adding that “the 1998 Football World Cup is such a memory”.

Were you at the concert on Friday? Are you as excited as Amir for Paris 2024? Do you think Amir will keep his flame alive until then? Let us know in the comments box below.
