Junior Eurovision may be over for another year, but with Christmas right around the corner we’re staying wide-eyed and bushy-tailed.
And thankfully JESC star Sophia Patsalides has already got us in the festive spirit with her new single “Here for Christmas”, now available on Spotify and iTunes.
It’s the second single from the 2014 Cypriot singer that she’s released all by herself, following on from her debut “Deep Blue Ocean” — released back in August.
Adonis Aletras provided the lyrics as well as the arrangement.
Produced by Noble Manor Produtions, the video starts off with Sophia performing her new single on the piano before various shots capture her exploring Christmas markets.
It’s a stark contrast to her debut single. As we move on from summer to winter, Sophia’s bluesy vocals warm up the December chill — elegantly adding that Christmassy touch with sleigh bells and a gentle sax solo.
Sophia Patsalides at Junior Eurovision
Cyprus returned to Junior Eurovision in 2014 after a one-year absence, and Sophia was internally selected by broadcaster CyBC to represent the island nation. She worked with Stavros Stavrou and two-time Eurovision veteran Alex Panayi on the co-written entry “I pio omorfi mera” (The most beautiful day). The song became an instant hit, finishing in a respectable ninth place in Malta.
Sophia had the time of her life and continued to impress our readers, who voted her as the 2014 representative most likely to go on to adult Eurovision. We totally agreed and recommended her for our Wednesday Wishlist. Could Sophia try her luck as Cyprus gears up for Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon?
