Last month, Danish pop star Tim Schou took us to an Altar in a Russian sauna. The travelogue continues with his latest offering. “Nirvana” — Schou’s first single with BMG worldwide and Iceberg management — gives us a closer insight into his travel adventures.
Filmed as a series of postcards and videologues from Tim’s travels all over the world, “Nirvana” is about physical and emotional escapism. The radio-friendly track opens with a narrator asking: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?” Then, we are treated to a collage of exciting still and moving images from Tim’s journeys across Europe, Africa and The Americas.
Speaking exclusively with wiwibloggs, Tim explains:
Actually, the lyrics for Nirvana are the fastest I’ve ever written. I collaborated with Mike Green, a Los Angeles based producer that has worked with bands like The Wanted and Paramore on this track. I had a feeling it was gonna be something different. I went to his studio with an open mind. He played me a ton of samples and I played him a selection of my demos.
Nothing really got me until he played this arpeggio synth theme. So insanely old-school in a 90’s kinda way. It was so intense that it got me immediately inspired. Mike started building the track with some references, while I started popping out melodies and lyrics.
The vibe got me thinking about my childhood memories, my friends, parties, love, the universe and all sorts. My writing began to flow. Ten minutes later I had a bunch of fresh lyrics. Mike hit play and I actually started talking my lyrics over the arpeggio synth. We started finding some rhymes in the text and put a melody to my talking. Four hours later, the whole production was done. Because the song and lyrics were written so fast, and because I never actually went back to change anything, the song is very open to interpretation and up to the individual listener to make personal sense of it all. It’s like looking at an abstract painting and decide for yourself what you see.
NIRVANA LYRICS
Back to my friends running naked through the sprinklers
Back when we were all just brothers and sisters
Back to the street where I first met you
when momma didn’t cry over my tattoos
Back out there behind the vines
I told you show me yours I show you mine
Those days are gone now I know it’s true
I’m just reminiscing on blue avenue
Imagine what a great escape
To go oh so far away
Nobody will know when we elope at night
So come with me now for a magic ride
Close your eyes
And see the light
God I love this
Magic ride
This is Nirvana
This is Nirvana
This is Nirvana
Treasure hunts on my birthday
You me the sun on a free way
My hands way down the cookie jar now
Hold up yea it won’t be long now
Meet me under the Sycamore tree
Come let’s fly far far away
I’m a broken boy
With a broken toy
But you’re so sweet like Almond joy
Imagine what a great escape
To go oh so far away
Nobody will know when we elope at night
So come with me now for a magic ride
Close your eyes
And see the light
God I love this
Magic ride
This is Nirvana
This is Nirvana
This is Nirvana
I’m all grown up now
Higher stakes
But it won’t be long now
Dips on the birthday cake
Close your eyes
And see the light
God I love this
Magic ride
This is Nirvana
This is Nirvana
This is Nirvana

These are UK selection level lyrics, Jesus. Better lyrics please. The fact it only took FOUR hours to write says alot.
