Svetlana Loboda, the Anti-Crisis Girl who rode a hell machine to Moscow back in 2009, sure loves to cause a stir. The Ukrainian star is known to go all in, especially with her music videos. From cockfights to home-wrecking, she throws everything and the (very expensive) kitchen sink. So when she released the official video for her new single “SuperSTAR” recently, we sat down, breathed deep and got ready for some pure LOBODA.

You know the music video’s gonna be good when it needs a prelude and a +18 disclaimer in the title. Loboda sets the mood with panoramic shots of herself on a dirt bike trail juxtaposed with musings of a woman really feeling her erotica fiction. The Ukrainian singer’s voice softly narrates the changing scenes as we see images of a woman who, pushed to the edge by love and other matters, fails to hang herself. There’s also a plethora of glamour shots of the singer with her well-coiffed pooch.

As the thumping beats of the song start, we are treated to white sand beaches, chiseled bods and references to adultery, as a woman dumps her cheating boyfriend, whose affair is with a man. Thankfully she flees into the arms of our Anti-Crisis Girl for some same-sex comfort. That’s a way to Celebrate Diversity, yeah?

Claiming that “he is today, but she is tomorrow”, the chorus and the breakdown lead to flawless beachside choreography. Loboda poses in a red jumpsuit, works it on a pickup truck and struts her stuff in a neon bodysuit with plenty of fringe.

Cut to the next scene with the icon pushing her maid to the edge, and using her as an ashtray when she slips into the pool (complete with slow-mo evil laughing). The abused woman has had it — she douses the starlet’s garments in gasoline and lights ’em up. Coupled with a basketball showcase and a faux-Supreme shirt that reads “Superstar”, this train has gone off-rails in a way only Svetlana Loboda can. From a golden hip-hop scene where she instructs folks to “Stop yelling like a bitch” to getting run over by a truck at the climax of the video, every second is filled with adrenaline. With 6.5 million in a week,  it’s clear girl is still slaying. Bom!

Never have her lyrics seemed more apt: “Remember, my dear, everyone is like everyone else, but I’m a superstar!”

Actually, this video caused a lot of controversy in Russia–based on the comment section– because it was flaged 0+, so many people got cross with the same-sex kissing. lol Loboda has been teasing people for months since the song got released, then she serves everybody with this video!

Sorry, but she was born in Kiev, so she is Ukrainian. She was actually part of an Ukrainian-Russian group, but she herself is Ukrainian 🙂
