Germany hasn’t revealed which six to eight artists have made its Eurovision 2019 national final. But among the Top 20, we now know a few acts who definitely haven’t. Sebastian Schub withdrew from Germany’s national selection earlier this week, and now two more acts have revealed they haven’t advanced to the final.
Nina Kutschera
The singer-songwriter made an impact while participating on the first season of The Voice ofGermany, reaching the live shows. Since then, Nina has shared her talent via social media, winning scores of new fans via Youtube and Instagram. But in her latest post she she announced she’s not among the finalists.
“I just got a call from Eurovision.de. It sadly wasn’t enough to compete in the live shows. It’s absolutely ok! I’m not sad but obviously disappointed – BUT! I noticed how strong you as a community are. None of the other communities (and they are all bigger) supported their act as much as you encouraged me!”
Putting a positive spin on her latest endeavour, she also stated that her journey hasn’t ended – it’s just beginning! We couldn’t agree more.
Dimi Rompos
Dimi also competed on The Voice of Germany, reaching the semi-final in the fifth season (which Eurovision 2016 act Jamie Lee won). She’d previously said that her rap and R&B influences could mesmerise the Eurovision audience. But sadly Dimi has revealed in her latest Instagram post that she is out of the race.
“I am cool with it! I’m fine! Certainly it’s disappointing but on the other hand it wasn’t even planned that I’ll take part in the national final and I didn’t even think about reaching the top 20!”
None of the remaining 17 artists have revealed any news.
What happens next?
Due to the two announcements, it is highly probable that the other participants have received their call from Eurovision.de as well. We’re watching all of their accounts closely and will keep you posted.
As planned, the six to eight finalists will be revealed in early November.

Just a German guy who lives for Eurovision! My favorite performance is Taken By A Stranger by Lena but I also fell in love with Bones by Equinox. When I'm not watching Eurovision I usually chill on Instagram, playing the latest songs on piano or doing some anime stuff. Also I love to dance hip hop!
@Kris: As you said, the NDR stated earlier that the number COULD be up to ten. They indeed planned more then 6 acts, but it can’t be seen as a garanteed number yet, because of two main reasons. (1) The selection process with the online survey and two juries and the Workshop and the Songwriting Camp and the Live National Final is not cheap at all. And (2) not all artists applied for themselves. The NDR was also scouting talents, so some artists were in the Top 20 without knowing it. Then they got a call for the Workshop. But… Read more »
Can’t really read German , but it seems Dimi has written that she isn’t a part of the final ‘6’ ? So there will be 6 then Also at the time I commented there was an Edit at the bottom of the page saying it has been confirmed now that there will be 6 artists in the NF , which has subsequently been removed I refuse to agree that it’s a monetary issue for NDR to have a bigger NF!! They already are paying the EBU excessively to set them up for lesser exposure in the contest by being a… Read more »
Yes, Dimi wrote “6” 🙂 And I did not see this edit, you were here earlier 🙂 But the official German fanpage with contacts to NDR can’t confirm the number of 6 at this time, as their information is still 6-8. We will have to wait a bit more…
I am not sure about your Big 5 argumentation, but yes, the artists can withdraw/could have withdrawn after their Workshop-invitation or the Workshop itself 😉
I believe in numbers , the more people there are there will be more diversity and more likely that I’d come to like a song . Ofcourse quality matters over quantity though.
Thilo Berndt is not unter the Top 6-8 too
Yay!! Dimi Dimi Dambaje?? No ? Ok
Ahhh Dimi hätte sonen geilen deutschen Song schicken können
Noo Dimi 🙁
Why does the article state “6 to 8 artists as planned” multiple times as if that was by default??
I distinctly remember them stating there will be more acts in the NF this year , and the number could be upto 10?
They didn’t like enough artists or did many of them withdraw at the 11th hour?
