The Wiwi Jury — our in-house team of music unprofessionals — is reviewing and rating the 37 competing songs in Eurovision 2025. Next we review Germany, who have chosen Abor & Tynna with “Baller”.

Do we have a sudden urge to trash a cello? Read on to find out!

Abor & Tynna – “Baller” (Germany Eurovision 2025)

Review: Abor & Tynna – “Baller”

Lucy: The whole world was in a Brat Summer chokehold last year, and whilst it was inevitable a hint of that would creep into Eurovision 2025, I don’t think anyone expected it to be This. Darn. Good. In a national selection where Germany were plain lucky that they got a great entry out of it, Abor & Tynna shone way above everyone else with the most relevant track in Eurovision this year. It’s effortlessly cool; young viewers will adore it and be dancing around their lounges. Europe, get ready to be singing BA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA for months to come. Eurofans have already been doing so since February.

     Score: 9.5

Tomas: “Baller” is my personal winner and I cannot explain well enough how obsessed I am with this entry. It’s as if Stefan Raab decided to find Lena Meyer-Landrut in 2025; however, this time he discovered Tynna and she’s teamed up with her brother to form a duo. “Baller” is exactly what I want to hear from Germany at Eurovision going forward — something contemporary, modern and fun! I truly wish them victory and for the stars to align to get Eurovision back to Germany!

     Score: 10

Antranig: Germany is fun, it’s easy to connect with and dance to, and it’s all around enjoyable. However, there is just no hook in the chorus to connect with, other than some artificial vocal effects. I want to sing along with the chorus when it pops into my head throughout the day, but it’s impossible. Look, it’s not reinventing the wheel but the song is pleasant enough, the energy on stage is undeniable, the cello smash is interesting and it’s going to be an enjoyable three minutes — it’s just not going to stand out among a field of 26 songs.

     Score: 4.5

Scarlett: It’s high time that Germany showed Eurovision once more that it can deliver bangers. “Baller” proves just that. Besides the fact that this is the first time Germany is sending a German-language song in forever, “Baller” is everything one can ask for in a modern pop song. It’s sleek, catchy, and gets people dancing. If Abor and Tynna can deliver a solid live performance – which can be hard to pull off with a highly produced electro-pop song such as this one – “Baller” is sure to “la-la-la-la” all the way to the top of the scoreboard.

     Score: 8

This has Mae Muller written all over it. Excuses for her vocals for weeks and weeks. She is ill, she is saving her voice etc, etc.
Then comes the contest and guess what…..she can’t sing. A good studio cut that can’t be backed up by live vocals.

This is my biggest wildcard of Eurovision 2025. I could vote for it multiple times or none. Sometimes I get addicted to it and at other times it’s a little bit irritating. That hook drills into your skull hard. That doesn’t even get into the potential for live disappointment. But I’m glad Germany sent something risky and cutting-edge, and not seemingly engineered for ESC. Right now I’ve got it 7th (give or take five places)

This is dreadful, not worth 1 out of 10 and if I hear one more mention of “she’s ill” throat issues I’ll go mad.She can’t sing, as simple as that. 36th,yes I have one that’s even worse.

GERMANY – Welcome back, German language! And may I add, alongside a pretty good song. While the German NF was dodgy in terms of confusing and constantly changing rules, they managed to pick the right song. It feels fresh, radio-friendly, and catchy. There is a certain energy that flows well throughout this entry from start to finish, and the instrumental is pretty cool. At first, I thought that the structure needs a bit more of a variation, but after a few takes, I am good with the song as it is. The lyrics that use metaphors about bullets regarding a… Read more »

One of the best this year…and at one point was even my #1. Still holding on in my top 3 and I believe that’s where it’ll stay.
Bubbly, joyous, and very fresh.

“Baller” is a surprisingly solid song underneath its design to appeal to those who love brat summer. It has a nice cello counter-melody, its C minor-based chord sequences are slightly edgy but easily listenable, its rhythms suit the German lyrics perfectly, and an added bonus is how Tynna shines into the camera with every movement. Of course, brat summer is totally not my thing, nor are overly-processed vocals that won’t work as well live. (Hold that thought for the Austria review.) However… Anything to do with cool electro-dance music in German is what most of Europe has probably wanted Germany… Read more »

Could not help but compare this review back to 2018 Finland, Saara Aalto with Monsters. Wiwi jury gave that an 8.06/10 and it placed 25th despite good staging and upbeat tempo. We won’t know how well the song will do until we see it live and compare it to other performances

it’s actually surreal to see germany so highly rated and knowing that they’ll end at least in 6th place in the wiwi jury is awesome! so proud :,)

anyway if you like baller you should listen to their debut album bittersüß, it’s really good!

Everyone worried about the live as if Vesna didn’t happen. Not a single good live anywhere until they slayed in the moment it mattered. At least Abor and Tynna’s first performance in their NF was good. Hoping it works cuz it’s a fantastic song.

The song is quite good for German standards. A good performance could really send it to the lefthand side of the scoreboard. Let’s see if vocals are on point or at least decent enough

I like this one, it’s fresh and modern, the aim here is to make you dance nothing else, I think a top 10 result for Germany is not delusional at all this year if the live vocals are good, so good luck to them!

Royalty does not exist.

Some people bitterly obsess over trans people, I spend my time campaigning that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ROYALTY. It’s a man made construct that only exists in their minds.

Thank you and goodnight.

26th place: Germany: Germany offers us this year a song that goes well along their mainstream hits. Unfortunately the problems are that: a) this song is not to my style at all and b) it’s also really formulaic. I’ve caught myself vibing to it and I am glad it’s in German for once. How will it fare in the contest? My guts tell me, unfortunately for its fans, not so good.

Germany – I really like this one! It’s one of my most listened to songs of the year, and it’s something I can easily vibe to. It gets bonus points for being in German for the first time since 2007! My only concern is for Tynna and I really hope she doesn’t get sick again and have to rely on backing, but overall this is a great entry from Germany. 8/10

I can’t rate it in a fair way because this is the kind of genre I am not interested it. What I can say is that I’m thrilled Germany is singing in German, I hope there’s more of that to come. I find it hilarious that big Germany has to pick Hungarian artists from Austria. I cannot say if that was the best option because I listened to nobody else in that selection. Yes, this is a huge upgrade from the bottom feeders we are used to by now from Germany. No, this is not a winner. Wasn’t that the… Read more »

Last year Isaak got high 12th place.
Much better than this year.

I think that there must be a rule that all performers, songwriters and stage directors should be citizens of the country they represent.

Now you have Hungarian Austrians for Germany, famous Spanish director for 2 other countries, Scandinavian songwriters for I don’t remember who. All mixed up.

So for San Marino, it would be Valentina Monetta every year. But she’d have to write her own songs, too.

Yup, sounds totally fair.

7. Germany – Abor & Tynna – Baller 9/10 – perhaps the most confident of all tracks this year, it doesn’t mess around from the very first bar. There is a pumping urgency which propels the song throughout. The melody is addictive and the attitude of the performers complement the track perfectly. As a dance track, it ticks all the correct boxes to get the listener moving and has sufficient flavour and variety to avoid it becoming one-dimensional. The production and delivery feel current and this track could have a life outside of Eurovision which I believe is important for… Read more »
