In what is becoming a regular tradition, Swedish girl group Dolly Style have confirmed that Polly — the purple-haired member of the group — has left. This makes the third Polly to leave the group since 2015.
Polly #3 — also known as Sarah von Reis — confirmed the news on Dolly Style’s Instagram page. She explained that, “My journey in Dolly Style has now come to an end and new challenges awaits.”
While Polly did not explain her exact reasons for leaving, she did say, “I know goodbyes can be tough but I do wish from the bottom of my heart that you understand that there’s always a time and place for everything and you will forever be in my heart.”
Meanwhile, the two remaining members of Dolly Style — Molly and Holly — posted a message to remind their fans that Dolly Style is still together. They also confirmed that “We will soon introduce a new member of the Dolly family”.
Interestingly, they did not confirm that the purple wig would be passed on to a new Polly, suggesting that a new member of the Dolly sisterhood would be joining the group.
Could we see a really happy member called Jolly? A canine companion named Collie? A sweet one called Lollie? Or perhaps a boy group member named Ollie?
This isn’t the first (or second) time the group has lost a Polly. The original Polly, Emma Pucek, left the group in 2015, shortly after they debuted at Melodifestivalen with “Hello Hi”. Emma left Dolly Style to focus on her rock group, and shortly after she was replaced with Polly #2. The new formation of the group entered Melodifestivalen 2016 with their song “Rollercoaster”.
Marielle Myhrberg took over the hallowed purple wig and settled in as Polly #2. But her time in the land of unicorns and ice creams was short lived. She left just 16 months later and was replaced with Polly #3, Sarah von Reis.
But the other group members have not been immune to personnel shifts. In November 2015, Molly (Carolina Magnell) left for personal reasons, and was replaced with the second Molly, Mikaela Samuelsson. In March this year, the original Holly, Alexandra Salomonsson, left the group and was replaced with Vilma Davidsson.
There is speculation that the departure of Polly #3 could be related to an unsuccessful entry for Melodifestivalen 2019. On Twitter, Scandipop wondered, “I’m guessing the songs that Dolly Style submitted for Melodifestivalen 2019 have been rejected.”
The line-up of Melodifestivalen 2019 will be announced in one week, on Tuesday 27 November. Wiwibloggs will have full coverage of the event.
What do you think? Who should the new member of the group be? Who would you like to see at Melfest 2019 instead of Dolly Style? Share your thoughts below!
What nonsense is this?
I miss the original formation. The Hello Hi days…
They’re all gone. Alexandra (the original Holly, in blue hair) left this spring. The original group is dead. This is 2.0, an entirely new lineup. Or is it 2.1 with a 4th Polly?
You just can’t keep Purple grounded. 😛
Said by “Purple Mask” – I can’t breathe hahaha 😀 😀 😀
