France‘s Destination Eurovision was one of the most successful national finals of the 2018 season. And today France 2 made clear its ambitions to keep the momentum going by revealing the list of 18 artists who are ready to slay the two semi-finals for a shot at Eurovision glory.

Florina – “In the Shadow”

Aysat – “Comme une grande”

Ugo – “Ce qui me blesse”

Chimène Badi – “Là-haut”

Sylvàn Areg – “Le petit Nicolas”

Gabriella – “On cherche encore”

Doutson – “Sois un bon fils”

The Divaz – “La voix d’Aretha’

Emmanuel Moire – “La promesse”

Tracy de Sa – “Por aqui”

Battista Acquaviva – “Passio”

Lautner – “J’ai pas le temps”

Philip Elise – “Madame la paix”

Bilal Hassani – “Roi”

Mazy – “Oulala

Noemie – “Ma petite famille”

Naestro – “Le brasier”

Seemone – “Tous les deux”

Destination Eurovision 2019: Format

This year, Destination Eurovision goes live for all three shows, not just the final. All three shows – the two semi-finals and the grand final – will have a 50/50 split of public and jury voting, as in Eurovision itself.

Unlike in last year’s show, the three person panel will only voice their opinions on the acts, and not actually cast a vote. Instead, a 20 person international jury will be responsible for that half of the vote.

What do you think of the names for Destination Eurovision? Are you excited to see what the second season will bring us? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments section below.

Chimène Badi’s song is also out on Apple Music. And it’s a really strong entry in my opinion! 🙂

Bilal Hassani is a hugely talented force, and is someone I really want to see win this selection. Let’s wait for the songs. 🙂

I had a quick listen to the 4-5 songs that are out.
Naestro’s is alright. Ugo has a nice enough voice.
I kind of like Mazy’s song. It has a nice vibe to it.
Emmanuel Moire’s song was unique because its about his unapologetic love for a man. I could kind of see them doing like with Ireland 2018 and having two men dancing together as he sings.

Maybe the word “hate” is a bit violent and inappropriate to describe your feeling about songs…
It’s your right to DON’T LIKE them, but what’s hatable in these songs ?

I can’t wait to hear all the songs. French reporters were invited to a press conference where they heard 1m30 of each song. According to them, the strongest entries are Seemone (a piano-voice ballad) and Tracy de Sà (a, I quote, “bop about mojitos and other cocktails that makes you want to dance”). I’m also excited to hear Aysat and Battista. I can’t wait !

Absolutely, “Por Aqui” from Tracy is some sort of a Aya Nakamura song. I’m so hyped for Battista. Either it’ll be something magical with a potential top 3 with televoters like her cover of “Psaume de David” during her blind audition, or it’ll be traditional and dated like her cover of “Bella Ciao”. But I think (and hope) that it’ll bé amazing and organic. Also very hyped for Émilie (love “Cette vie m’emporte” which is very french), Asyat (think she can dance), Florina (dark pop song like Sia), Gabriella (uptempo song about social networks), and Bilal.

Exactly. I think it’ll be either hit or miss for Battista but I’m excited. I see we have the same “favorites”, I would just swap Bilal for Philip Elise (I heard her song has a Hoshi vibe that I’m really into). I think we’ll be able to hear the sneak peeks December, 20 so fingers crossed !

Ok…
4 songs are out so far, but none really caught my attention. They are good, but also kind of forgettable, even the rap-wannabe “Oulala”.
It’s 4/18 tho, so there’s still a lot of potential.

Perhaps I’m overthinking it, but I think that due to ongoing events in the country, it feels like France is trying to make French people get distracted by Eurovision, that’s why they put much effort into this show.

You’re overthinking it. There is no way Eurovision could distract the French people from on-going events. Whichever they are.

That’s wayyyy too far fetched. And it doesn’t even make any sense. French people won’t suddenly stop watching the news because of some esc nf participants.

Also, Destination Eurovision is pretty much set to take place in January, while the yellow-jacket protests have been around since late November. There’s still about an entire month for the yellow-jacket protests to be the main focus of attention for French people. The story have even reached South America, so I doubt they’ll be out of the focus soon.

I don’t think he’ll partcipate if he isn’t sure to win the thing, or maybe in 2020 or later. This year, we already have 2 big names (Emmanuel Moire + Chimène Badi).

Destination Eurovision makes me want to learn French! I’m not familiar with their music industry, but it’s impressive how there are so many interesting artists and beautiful voices on their selection for the second year in a row. Someone has reunited all of them in this video so we can have a taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0ZSFbPN-Hs

Destination Eurovision seemed to have a good debut year and was really popular in the ESC fandom despite low viewing figures in France and a disappointing outcome in ESC being one of the favorites to win but I’m optimistic and curious of this year’s songs, the selection last year was quite good but none of the songs were winning or Top 5 material for Eurovision so I expect the French to up their game! I hope they leave out all the guest duet performances this year which dragged out the final way too long last time.

We have a very great selection !!!

Bilal has a big fanbase, like Lisandro last year, but his (yes, it’s a guy) is written by Madame Monsieur.
Nice to see Emmanuel Moire and Chimène Badi, not really succesful today for say the truth.
Lautner, handsome guys !!
Others the others i don’t know them so can’t wait for the song !!!
1.30 of the songs will be out on 20th december, but already 3 songs are on youtube (Ugo, Mazy and Emmanuel ) on the 3, my favorite is the from Ugo.
