There’s something you should know. UMK 2020 is back with a new format to determine who will represent Finland in Rotterdam. Six artists and songs will be competing for the honour. Today, the penultimate song has been released. Sansa has now released her song “Lover View”.
Sansa “Lover View” (UMK 2020)
Established musician Sansa has an electronic style via an indie-folk background. Her song for UMK is described as a “cool and sensual piece of electropop.” The UMK jury describes the song as” classic Nordic pop at its best” and compared the track to something from Swedish pop icon Robyn.
UMK 2020
The final of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2020 will take place on 7 March in Tampere. Hosted by Mikko Silvennoinen and Eurovision veteran Krista Siegfrids, the winner will be decided by televote and an expert jury.
In the past two years, Finland has internally selected its artist and utilised UMK to select their song. This yielded mixed results, with Saara Aalto ending a three year non-qualification streak in 2018 before Darude and Sebastian Rejman crashed out in Tel Aviv.
This year, YLE has abandoned the internal selection and UMK will feature six different artists vying for the right to represent Finland in Rotterdam. Sansa is one of these six artists and will be hoping to take “Lover View” to the Eurovision stage.
Love this one! Sounds like a love child of Daft Punk & Kylie Minogue
My to 3 so far – 3, Sansa, 2, Aksel and 1, Erika but o don’t feel Finland this year 🙁 i starting worrying about qualification 🙁
I like the song but I did laugh more than a few times at some of these pretty dodgy lyrics. Shame could of been a really strong entry for Finland.
I love her voice!!
Aksel Kankaanranta. Tika. Sansa. Top 3
It’s nice atmospheric electro-pop, but not impactful enough for me. In my view, it’s clearly between Erika and Zühlke now, let’s wait for tomorrow.
1. Cicciolina 10/10
2. I Let My Heart Break 9/10
3. Bananas 7/10
4. Lover View 7/10
5. Looking Back 6.5/10
I think this may exactly what Victoria had in mind when she said “I do not want to sound too mediocre and commercial”
Don’t like it at all… Music passes and nothing happens…overall a weak selection in Finland 🙁
I quite like the song although I’m not sure if it would win given the fact that everyone in the Eurovision fandom wants Cicciolina to win.
Ngl i’m happy it was not good, there is only one artist that MUST go to eurovision, which is Erika Vikman- Cicciolina.
I’ll dare to say that this is one of the best produced tracks of the Eurovision season so far. The way her soothing voice and the electronic background blend is quite cool. It could have better lyrics though. Let’s see how well the Queen of the North will sell it live.
Love the instrumental but those lyrics… still an interesting song 🙂
I like it – it’s the type of music I listen to on my iPod and then immediately forget that I even put it there, until it pops up again.
So – my enjoyment: 5/5, but I don’t think it would do well in Eurovision.
Great song, very radio friendly and Spotify friendly. But all will come down to staging here now… It is not better than Looking Back, but it is better than the dated cheese that Cicciolina is…
Thank You. I hate that Cicciolina also it’s a very dated song, the lyrics are horrible and Erika is very stiff on stage not that good singer either. My top 3 are Aksel Kankaanranta. Tika. Sansa but there’s also Zulke and she is usually very good.
To be fair, I do hear a bit of Robyn in this.
I like it but is it a bit too understated. I mean, it could still do well at ESC but it’s hard to get really excited about.
Below average.
it really sounds like a song i’d hear in a bershka fitting room. it’s cute but it doesn’t do much
Soule will represent Ireland .. Announcement coming soon
Yeah sure, like how you said last month that the Irish entrant will be revealed “tomorrow”
Actually i heard they will reveal soon (beg of feb) i guess
To be honest I was a little disapointed. Maybe I had my expectations too high cause this was the act I was most excited about when the artists were announced and it just fell flat.
Don’t get me wrong I still think it’s a well produced song with interesting elements, but I just don’t see this making an impact on the eurovision stage.
Anybody get the feeling she has been using Google translate and it’s gone wrong.? The English seems very off.
Also, she is an expert ventriloquist.
She looks nice and it’s not bad, but not good enough unfortunately.
There is something really sleek and cozy here. It might be a bit too laid back, but I do like it.
I like it but I can’t see this at Eurovision stage.
Elevator music.
@William Lee Adams: can we finally block this inconceivable person from the comment section? Many times he / she / whatever posts disrespectful and derogatory comments! Everybody can state their own opinions but we need respect!
Sounds like you need a safe space. Try your closet. 😉
imagine being this sensitive. he says things as he thinks they are without tryin to sugar coat them. the eurovision fandom needs a thicker skin….
He literally just said ‘elevator music’. I didn’t know that was triggering to you. Especially since he didn’t personally attack you or the artist. There is no reason to be offended.
Indeed. It is not as if Mr Vanilla Bean went out of his way to write detailed music reviews that infamously ticked off so many readers, artists and managers. (Cough.)
I hated those ones . Trying to sound all fancy schmancy
Ah, those were the days. 🙂
It’s ok, but misses something. Plus, I can’t really imagine it on the Eurovision stage. So, no, it ain’t a winner!
Erika for the win please!!
a heartfelt bop
