France’s new national final Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez! is due to take place sometime in January. But we could already know the names of five of the expected 12 competing acts. The names appear to have been inadvertently leaked in upcoming French television listings.

French journalist Benjamin Rabier claims that the names of five competing acts were revealed in listings for a daily ten-minute show called Pastille Eurovision. The show will introduce one act per day, starting from 28 December.

The Pastille Eurovision format was previously used in 2018 and 2019, when the competing acts of Destination Eurovision were introduced in a short clip.

But despite the reported leak, France TV has not yet confirmed that Pastille Eurovision will be used or that the five named acts will be part of the contest.

Five acts reported for ‘Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez’ 2021

Five French acts are reported as being part of the 2021 national final lineup. It is expected that 12 acts in total will compete in the revamped show.

The schedule for the acts being introduced is:

  • Monday, 28th December: Casanova
  • Tuesday, 29th December: Philippine
  • Wednesday, 30th December: LMX
  • Thursday, 31st December: Ali
  • Friday, 1st January: Barbara Pravi

The five acts are a mix of known singers and newcomers.

Casanova was a candidate in the seventh season of The Voice France. The 26-year-old singer was a member of Zazie’s team but was stolen by Mika during the final audition. He was the finalist in Mika’s team.

Philippine is an up-and-coming French singer. She had some success with her 2019 single “C’est beau, c’est toi”.

Barbara Pravi is a well-known name among Junior Eurovision fans. The 27-year-old singer-songwriter co-wrote France’s two most recent Junior Eurovision entries “Bim Bam Toi” and the winning “J’imagine”.

But as well as writing for other artists, she also has her own career as a solo performer. In recent years she has released a number of singles and EPs, including her 2019 mashup, “Notes pour trop tard (réécriture) x Le malamour”

Little is known, however, about the other two acts Ali and LMX. Spotify lists an artist named LMX who appears to only produce electronic instrumental music, which seems unlikely for an entrant in a song contest.

France’s new national final

France is introducing a new national final to select its act for Eurovision 2021. The show is titled Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez! — which essentially translates to Eurovision France: You Decide!

Broadcaster France TV has not confirmed many details about the new show format, but it is known that the show will involved 12 competing acts and it will be hosted by Stéphane Bern.

A specific date for the national final has not yet been given, however, it will take place sometime in January 2021.

The broadcaster has also confirmed that the show will be filmed in a provincial French city, rather than the Paris locations of previous national finals.

The new national final will have a different format to the 2018-2019 show Destination Eurovision. The previous national final format had involved two semi-finals and a grand final, with all the competing acts internally selected by the broadcaster after liaising with record labels. For Eurovision France, the broadcaster has accepted public submissions.

What do you think of these leaked names? Which other acts would you like to see in the contest? Tell us your thoughts below.

OMG this is Barbravi Pravi!!!!!! If she competes with her new song already available named Voilà, I think she would be a good choice, it’s a perfect mix between Edith Piaf and Barbara, a perfect mix between something older but elegant with a modern touch.

I don’t think it’s the “good” Philippine in you article. The one from you article use her family name, Philippine Lavrey. I think, can be wrong of course, but Philippine (without family name) is the one singing “c’est beau, c’est toi” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82kJAYGEgX0
Really excited for more news anyway 🙂
