Have you ever fallen in love with someone as bad as the devil? Well then you’re probably going to vibe with Cyprus’s Eurovision 2021 star Elena Tsagrinou. Since our last Eurovision podcast, Cyprus confirmed that it’s called on the rising Greek star to sing “El Diablo” in Rotterdam.

But the fire coming from the Med is only just the beginning. Israel’s KAN has shared 9 demos for Eden Alene‘s song selection — and our readers aren’t sure that was such a good idea. Estonia’s ERR revealed the 24 artists and songs for Eesti Laul 2021 — and we’re still sending Alabama Watchdog side-eye and shade.

Sweden also confirmed its 28 Melodifestivalen acts, including Eric Saade, Danny Saucedo, Dotter and The Mamas; Portugal unveiled its Festival da Canção 2021 composers; and we finally saw the new Eurovision 2021 logo and learned more about the ESC 2021 postcards. Pass us a drink — or maybe even the bottle — because our Eurovision thirst is real!

Eurovision podcast (Episode 83)

For this week’s podcast, William calls Deban to discuss all the news from their flats in London. But, as ever, our contributors from around the world chime in with their insights. Lauren in Israel may not have made the cut in Eden’s song selection, but she’s woman enough to admit when she hears a winner in “Shoulders”. Robyn in New Zealand shares her theories on why so many top acts have thrown themselves into Melodifestivalen 2021. And Jonathan in the UK is once again sipping on that new music tea — what’s hot and what deserves a second helping?

Added bonus: Eurovision 2011 winner Eldar Qasimov discusses his new single “Until the End”.

You can subscribe on Spotify and Apple Music. This episode was produced by Samuel in London.
