The Roop Discoteque Music Video Teaser

The countdown is on! The Roop are set to premiere the “Discoteque” music video at 8:30 CET on Friday morning. And with roughly 24 hours left to go, they have shared yet another teaser of their entry for Lithuania’s Pabandom iš Naujo! 2021.

The Roop “Discoteque” teaser

Early on Thursday morning, The Roop — that’s Vaidotas Valiukevičius, Robertas Baranauskas and Mantas Banišauskas — published a 30-second snippet to their social media channels. In an apparent acknowledgement of the brevity of the previously released “fragment”, they write “We hear you! You want a snippet? OK! Here you are! One day left till the premiere!”

The clip will surely tantalise and frustrate fans in equal measure. It appears to be a prologue of sorts to the actual music video. We see Vaidotas sitting in his changing room backstage, deep in thought. Then, about 12-seconds in, a guitar starts to strum. It immediately captures the attention of the band’s frontman who turns his head to gaze directly into the vanity mirror before him.

On Instagram, the clip is accompanied by the hashtag “#eyebrowdance”. And that’s because Vaidotas’ eyebrows begin to involuntarily twitch in time with the music. The perplexed lead singer leans towards his reflection to take a closer look. The music builds, and then whoosh! The snippet is over.

The Roop “Discoteque” first snippet

This clip follows on from the 15-second fragment which came on Thursday. Upon posting that to their various social media channels, they simply wrote “A fragment of “Discoteque” vibe”. The statement concludes with the “man dancing” emoji.

Whilst brief, the snippet does give us a little taste as to what we can expect. Unsurprisingly, it appears to have the quintessential four-on-the-floor disco beat — the clue is in the title, after all. It is dominated by what seem to be beatboxing samples while an ethereal tinkling sound can also be heard.

In an earlier post, the trio wrote: “The new song “Discoteque” is not a copy of “On Fire”. That’s what we wanted the least. However, one thing that is in common (apart from band members) is that both sound somewhat unusual. And we love it!”

The Roop at Pabandom iš Naujo! 2021

The reigning Pabandom iš Naujo! champions are participating in Lithuania’s national selection once more. However, in acknowledgement of the fact that they never got the chance to perform at the cancelled Eurovision 2020, producers have given The Roop a guaranteed slot in the final. That means they don’t have to go through the heats and semi-final like the other 20 acts.

So that they’re not at any disadvantage, the band have also been given the chance to perform “Discoteque” in Heat Two on Saturday 23 January. This ensures that the Lithuanian public will be familiar with their song when the final rolls around in just over two weeks’ time.

What do you think of the second snippet? Are you excited to hear the full version? Let us know below.

The Roop, I’m hoping it’s not going to be a Statements/Loreen moment.

They were my favorites last year! I though they could win or at least be top 3. I hope this song to be a bop so they can go to Eurovision and win. They deserve it!

I was confident they would lift the trophy in 2020, I’m ready for the drop so I can put my money where my mouth is! Fingers crossed!

Well, if you want them to go to Eurovision, you’ve got to vote for them. Don’t just wish it, do it.

These guys have the X factor. I think they will have a durable musical career all over Europe regardless of the result in May…

On a different note, they will eat the competition alive. If the first semi is any indication, it is almost like a boxing match between Tysin Fury and my 15 year old niece.

Oh my. I used to make a prediction that all last year hit makers wouldn’t be able to come up with another banger, but since Keiino’s “Monument” turned out to be even better than “Spirit in the sky” (although admittedly they had one extra year to record that) — now I don’t know what’s going to happen. Maybe The Roop and Dadi are back on top of the odds, which is crazy to think.

This is getting silly – just release your track, guys! Too precious – if not presumptuous as if all eyes are on Roop!

Ok double standards. When someone from Sweden teases the song for 1-2 months then it’s ‘exciting’.

Actuall, if someone from Sweden teases his song, then he will be automatically disqualified ?

In 2013, Graham Norton joked about the country’s than-entry “who needs backing dancers when you have dancing eyebrows”. 8 years later, they’re heeding it.
