This year’s series of Pabandom iš Naujo! has returned to the original format from 2020 after being shortened last year. It includes three heats, two semi-finals and one grand final. A total of 36 acts are taking part in the Baltic state’s music competition, which will determine their artist and song for Eurovision 2022.

The 18 acts that advance through the heats will perform in the semi-finals on 29 January and 5 February. Eventually, eight acts will make it through to the final and will compete for the right to represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2022.

What do you think about the Pabandom iš Naujo! 2022 heat two results? Are you satisfied with the qualifiers?

I’ve listened to Gebrasy and Monika’s songs today and, let’s just say, Lithuania could *really* do with Ruta’s song being winning quality.
From the teaser, thankfully, it might just be. Can’t wait until Friday!

So my thought 1. Ieva – her song is so boring sorry her 2018 one is better 2. Just? – not a fans of the song but the staging is good tho 3. Titas and Benas – just okay i did expect them to qualify 4. Queens of Roses – The song is good catchy but the staging is a bit messy like they dont know what to do. 5. Moosu X – all great seems like he is underrated by both Jurries and televotes 6. Emilijana – Need to get rid of the back up vocal or slow down… Read more »

I only see some potential in Titas and Benas, but while one is having a good time on stage (the right side), the other looks to me really uncomfortable, this makes the performance a bit ackward. If they solved this, I think they,d have a chance to do really well on the final. It’s fresh, young and sounds great. They remind me of the swedish group Lo-fi-fnk.

So Ieva’s song is lovely, I am a fan…..but Queen of Roses have been stuck in my head ever since. It’s incredibly catchy, their vocals are amazing (harmonies are just *chef’s kiss*) and it’s probably the most eurovision stage ready entry in the mix, stage show and all. I’d love to see them live on the Turn stage, seems like the perfect successor to The Roop.

Tell that to Belarus then. Belarus has been kicked out so there’s no reason Australia that is violating human rights to not so too. Does even China ban sportmen/women from any country tp participate to the coming next olympic games ?

I don’t want to get too political here, but Belarusian government falsified the elections, and was holding the whole country hostage. A lot of people died or went missing. It’s not the same as one person’s deportation. A person who, I’ll remind you, had a choice to do something he knew is the condition of entering the country, and chose not to. And who, as far as we know, was held under high-class conditions in a hotel, and was able to communicate with the press several times. Not exactly the same scenario…

Oh yeah the choice ? What choice ? Hello Nuremberg Code ? You have no right to organize an international event and force foreigners to do things against their will. Imagine Azebaijan mandate to convert ESC participants into Muslim in 2012…. What would have people said ?

Belarus violated specific EBU rules. Australia did not. It’s that simple really. Everything else that happens inside these countries is not EBU’s business.

Even though I like Djokovic as a player, I can’t side with him for the choices he made. I won’t talk about the fact that people have to get vaccinated or not, each one his opinion. I will just say that Djokovic knew what were the rules to go in Australia and compete. He chose not to follow them and openly lied. It’s normal that Australian authorities sent him back home. Everyone has to play by the same rules. I won’t talk any further about this subject because it is not the place to but I think it is necessary… Read more »

No one is above the law, not even Djokovic. Whoever goes to a foreign country adapts to the rules and laws there, full stop. Rafael Nadal said it right. Everyone decides for themselves, but they must also be able to live with the consequences.

Certainly not by the fandom. Together with Ryan O’Shaughnessy, she was deemed an almost ”no-hoper” from ”the semi of death”. Not only that both of them qualified, but also managed to finish on the left side of the scoreboard, defying all the expectations. She was more of an underdog than a fan-favorite before the show.

Two weeks in a row where I don’t really get what the televote is doing. “Illuminate” was much closer to being the worst song of the night than the best. Juries were definitely more perceptive than the public.

Ieva has a nice song but I probably liked Juste’s song even a little bit more. Cosmic Bride should’ve qualified and Queens Of Roses is a legit guilty pleasure.

MUCH better heat than last week.

The amount of votes is very low in the heats, so it is very easy for artists with bigger following on social media and informing relatives and friends to vote. Winner have just around 800 votes, which is easy to collect.

It’s pretty easy to win the televote in heats. Just get your fans to vote or buy a lot of SIM cards. It’s been done before, and investigated multiple times. Semi will be much harder to slide through for attention seekers though. And completely impossible in the grand final.

Out of the 24 songs we’ve seen I’d only consider 4-5 capable of getting through an ESC semi final and one of them just got eliminated. How Ieva or Auguste last week managed to not win their semis televote leaves me unimpressed

She didn’t deserve last place. If you read Devito’s translated comments, the jury seemed to have it out for her Because They didn’t approve of her song for it to another country, with very little real criticism. They were so blatantly biased against her. Sad part is the devil lives in Spain is actually better than her entry last year and it’s better than the other songs that didn’t qualify, So it’s a very undeserved last place finish.

Another beautiful song from Ieva, of course. However, “Love That Hurts” got my top marks, followed by “How to Get My Life Back.” Both of these look and sound ready for Eurovision to me. I also liked the sass of “Washing Machine.” 🙂

Much much better heat this week. As someone that only warmed up to her last effort during Eurovision, I already prefer how Ieva’s voice sounds on “I’ll Be There”. It’s another ultra simple song, but she delivered it beautifully and her greatest asset is how well she connects with the cameras. For the best song of the heat (and of PiN so far), my pick is Moosu X, but the guy needs to work on his vocals, otherwise the jury will harm them again. Too bad we lost two good songs tonight. It’s true that Viktorija’s performance was iffy, but… Read more »

  • Auguste (1st on stage) vs Juste Kraujelyte (2nd on stage)
  • Joseph June (4th on stage) vs Titas & Benas (4th on stage)
  • Elonas Pokanevic (7th on stage) vs Emilijana (7th on stage)
  • Urte Silagalyte (9th on stage) vs Ieva Zasimauskaite (9th on stage)
  • Mary Mo (10th on stage) vs Moosu X (10th on stage)
  • Erica Jennings (11th on stage) vs Queens of Roses (11th on stage)

Lithuanian results really shift all over the place, and the juries cannot agree with the televote at all. It’s impossible to tell who’ll win so far, which makes it interesting. Admittedly, I was with the televoters in the first heat, but here, I’m far more alligned with the juries (although I’m sad that both completely ignored Cosmic Bride). I have to admit that Emilijana’s song has a hook that sticks easily, but I find it a bit jarring. Ieva, on the other hand, was just stunning!

Polegend Godgarina

Reply to  Colin

i’ve noticed in the past that the televote tends to conform to the juries’ wishes. for example: in 2016 ruta sciogolevaite was winning the televote in their infinite heats until the semifinal, in 2017 aiste pilvelyte was the televote favorite while the public was paying fusedmarc dust until just before the final, and in 2018 ieva wasn’t consistently winning the heats’ televotes either. in 2019, on the other hand, juries and televoters agreed all the way through on jurijus.

Colin
Colin

That’s an interesting trivia, thanks. 🙂 Indicates how things can further shift in the semis or in the final itself. It will be very interesting to follow.
So far, I can realistically see Erica, Urte, Ieva, or Emilijana as winners, but my instinct tells me that the winner likely comes from the third semi. Perhaps someone will win on both fronts there, or at least come second with the other front.

Another thing to consider is the amount of people voting. Compared with 2020 (I haven’t looked at 2021’s results because it was an atypical year and we knew The Roop would win the televote anyway), less people are voting on the heats this year. For example: with the amount of votes she got today, Emilijana would be just 4th place in the heat won by The Roop back then. I suppose on these first heats having a fanbase willing to help and feeling the qualification of their favorite is uncertain ends up being very important. A Ieva fan probably didn’t… Read more »

Indeed there is a huge drop of interest in heats. Maybe these numbers will make LRT rethink their strategy: two or three semi-finals + grand final would be enough and would attract bigger audience. 2022. The average of votes per heat is 4 115 while the average of votes per artist is 374. 2021. The average of votes per heat was 5 128 while the average of votes per artist was 513. 2020. There are songs that appeal to the listener by their simplicity. Not always huge vocal range is a factor to determine appeal. As far as Ieva as an artist goes, I like her voice and style as well as charisma and lovely personality. So in
