Melodi Grand Prix 2022: Semi-final four songs
Alexandra Joner – “Hasta La Vista”
No relation to Hurricane, Norwegian-Cuban triple threat singer, dancer and actress Alexandra Joner is bringing a pinch of Latin flair to MGP with “Hasta La Vista”. The 31-year-old has more than 15 years experience in showbiz with multiple accolades to her name. She’s back at Norway’s Eurovision selection after one previous attempt to represent her country in 2015 with “Cinderella”. Will she make it through to another final this year?
Maria Mohn – “Fly”
Melodi Grand Prix alum Maria Mohn, 38, is spreading her wings with the haunting yet uplifting “Fly”. A graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music, Maria is also a songwriter, vocal coach and entertainer, looking to add Eurovision 2022 to her extremely-impressive CV. This year, Maria is competing for a spot in the final against her former MGP 2020 “Fool For Love” duet partner Kim Wigaard. Does “Fly” get your vote?
Kim Wigaard – “La melodia”
Classically-trained vocalist Kim Wigaard, 33, is giving Melodi Grand Prix another shot. The Oslo Concert Hall headliner first bid for the Norwegian Eurovision ticket in 2020 alongside fellow MGP 2022 semi-finalist Maria Mohn, singing “Fool For Love”. This time, he’s going solo with “La Melodia”. Does Kim get your vote?
Sofie Fjellvang – “Made of Glass”
Kristiansand-based singer-songwriter Sofie Fjellvang, 21, is going for MGP gold with “Made Of Glass”. The Voice finalist is bidding to represent Norway with a track co-penned by Melodi Grand Prix hall-of-famer and Eurovision alum Kjetil Mørland of “A Monster Like Me” fame. Will Sofie be the winner of semi-final four?
Poll: Who should win semi-final four of Melodi Grand Prix 2022?
Remember, you can vote for as many songs as you like, but you can only vote once — so make it count.
This poll will close ahead of Melodi Grand Prix semi-final four on Saturday 5 February, with results published before the show.
Who did you vote for? Who should win a spot in the Melodi Grand Prix 2022 final? Sound off in the comments below.
I actually like Alexandra Joner the most of this semifinal, MGP has a good ammount of songs that would do very well in the actual contest. Same goes for nordic neighbour Finland with their UMK entries.
Where is my none of the above option?
It’s called ‘dont vote’
Maria Mohn is the only one I like.
Maria mohn for me because her voice is fantastic and also because this is very norwegian !
Watch Hasta La Vista make to final.
Maria Mohn is my favourite this year. So easy choice 🙂
almost everyone in mgp has bad lyrics but i love most of the songs anyway
“Hasta La Vista” has bad lyrics but I like the music
I don’t like all that much everything on the list, but I think that Sofie is the best option. It’s not very original, but it’s well written and produced, has a good vocal. Alexandra Joner replicates faux latin pop so plainly, it’s dull. Kim Wigaard’s track has verses that are bad at best. Maria Mohn seems to be alright, but in a very by the numbers way.
Surprised to see this kind of guilty pleasure/tongue-in-cheek comment from you. Your comments are always the most insightful, serious and thoughtful in the comment section and seeing you writing something more plain/human(?) is a little weird.
Sofie Fjellvang all the way!! Anything penned by Morland is absolute art. But I can’t deny that Fly is really really good. So I can’t really decide. Hasta La Vista has basic and stupid lyrics, but the instrumentation is not that bad. I haven’t paid much attention to La Melodia, but it sounds a bit cliche.
Off topic, but for the first time ever, we will hear the songs from Dora before the contest. Full versions are out on February the tenth!
? we heard them all before the contest last year
Last year, we heard snippets, not whole songs.
February 10 th is THE date, we will have the same day the songs from Germany, Croatia and Denmark, prepare the earphones guys, it will be a busy day.
Dora geek fact – Eric Insta shows a video introducing his dancers with his dora song playing ‘I found you’ it’s only about 10 seconds long
why do people hate black flowers? i love it!
Because its dated, the staging is unoriginal and the lyrics are pretentious. Its a song made JUST for Eurovision in mind and would have no life outside of the contest… Its not BAD, but it is not that good either…. Its very very mediocre.
I really hope Maria and Sofie don’t have to face eachother in the duels
Unless they go to the gold duel together
Oh my goodness, you gave me something to stress about!
srry :[
why is poland #1 in odds?
Idk another rumor maybe
Probably because a snippet of Ochman’s song was leaked. But it is not available anymore where I listened to it
The song will be officially released on Thursday.
Whoever gives the best performance between Maria and Sofie will have my (useless, since I can’t vote) support.
I already disliked “Hasta la vista” when MGP’s songs were released. After watching Chanel slaying in Benidorm Fest, I’m feeling it can become a target of that popular meme: Mom, can we have “SloMo”? / No, we have “SloMo” at home.
”useless, since I can’t vote” Technically, you can, if you make a NRK account. I’m not even using VPN, and I could vote in semis thus far. Unless that’s within Europe, and outside of it, one would need VPN. No idea on that.
I remember voting on one of those finals, but I didn’t know if my votes were counted (without VPN, I just picked a random region of Norway and they gave me a message like I had voted, but who knows?) and later I asked myself if I should be doing it since they don’t invite people outside of the country to vote. In any case, both of my votes went to the final duel (Ulrikke and Kristin). I feel better when I’m formally invited to do it like with Spain last year and Czech Republic lately.
It’s just a few hundreds of us at most, while I believe that thousands of Norwegians are voting. Tix’s win over Keiino last year is certainly a proof of there being much more local voters. I never heard NRK officially inviting people from outside to vote, but I never heard them not to, and the option is available. But I did read Ulrikke inviting fans from abroad to vote in 2020 on her channel, so I guess it’s legit. Yeah, if you aren’t from Norway, you just randomly pick a region in the finals. Semis are much more straightforward, as… Read more »
Though if they’re OK with people from outside voting, they could give an option for those voting from abroad. But you’re right, the amount of people on other countries trying it must be minimal, it would never make a difference in MGP, 380k voted for TIX, 200k for Ulrikke.
If the votes are presented as being from North or South or Central, I’d like to be able to believe that’s where they actually came from.
Fair enough. If they let outsiders vote thinking about Norwegian leaving abroad, they just can give them the option to state it. But at least it doesn’t make much difference to the result, it’s more for curiosity,
Whoever gives the best performance between Maria and Sofie will have my (useless, since I can’t vote) support.

On a different note, Poland first in the betting odds. Must be because of the Ochman – River release.
where can you listen to it
it leaked online last night but has been since removed. Official release should be this week. It’s a mix of Switzerland last year and Duncan Laurance but quite dramatic and Ochman has an incredible voice.
Is Wouter Hardy perhaps involved?
Sofia or Maria has to win.
Hasta La Vista is weak, and I feel annoyed by the lyrics. Alexandra has Cuban roots, she surely could have written better lyrics than “I ain’t your mamacita, so don’t call me señorita”
I can’t decide if I like La Melodia or not. I like that it aims to be epic, yet I find it underwhelming at the same time.
Sofie, please.
BTW, Nordic countries finally made me curse the day Despacito was released.
As someone that comes from Latin America, I gotta tell you that Despacito was already being played to death before it crossed over to the Western markets, it was played so much for a year that I’m still fed up with it and it’s been 4-5 years since
My favourite since the songs were first released was Maria Mohn with Fly, and have been very much looking forward to this heat out of any so far. I like all the songs apart Hasta la Vista really, it’s very unoriginal and kind of a paint by numbers Latin inspired pop. I like Made of Glass although feel we have heard quite a few of these songs already this season. I would not be disappointed at all if Kim got through, probably is my second choice behind Fly. I just hope as Oda got through last week, it won’t put… Read more »
I am torn between Maria Mohn and Sofie. If one of these two qualifies I will be pleased (of course a lot can change after the live performances though). I don’t like the other two songs that much.
Me too! But I prefer made of glass a bit more
Btw are u Greek?
Yes I am 🙂
To ixera Kai go ime
Pls vote made of glass trough. She also has great vocals so im expecting it will elevate significantly live
Easily the best semi.
Any of these songs would’ve won in the first two weeks for me. I think you could make an argument for any of them.
I’ll probably stick with Kim for now as I think his song is the most different to what else we’ve got in the final so far but you could easily go for any of the others.
The wild card surely is coming from this show.
maria and sofie have objectively good songs but watch them vote for the faux-latino song with embarrassing lyrics
My thoughts
Fly is really beautiful, the best old norse-inspired song over hammer of thor. not a winner but a good choice.
Hasta la vista is nice and catchy, but there’s something about it that just annoys me.
La Melodia is a major guilty pleasure, the lyrics are a bit stupid but the melody is nice and memorable.
Haven’t listened much to Made of Glass but I remember it as quite good, probably a good choice.
I’d pick Maria Mohn or Sofie Fjellvang but this is the heat where I like every act, I probably won’t watch it.
fly is amazing but made of glass is pure art i just love it
the problem will be whether i should vote for made of galss/fly (whoever gets eliminated) or your loss in the second chance
thats the best semi
Maria Mohn’s song is my personal favourite from this semi final. I do quite like Alexandra and Sofie’s songs as well though.
My favorites are Maria Mohn, Kim Wigaard, and Sofie Fjellvang. With a reason:
I have only listed few of the songs and the snippets from few weeks ago and the only one I liked it was Fly by Maria Mohn. Really powerful typical Norwegian dark folk pop. I think she has great chance of winning the whole thing.
“Made of Glass” is my favorite here and probably my second favorite in MGP overall. It may be a tad repetitive, but I just can’t get enough of that chorus. That said, I think “Fly” is also great, so I wouldn’t mind it if it advanced. The other two aren’t as good imo, though neither is terrible.
Fly is my overall 2nd/ 3rd, and Made of Glass 6th. Both should win, but since it’s like this, I’ll hope one of them does, and vote for the other one as a wildcard. While I don’t like La melodia as much as Tibor does, I do like it nonetheless. It’s elegant, even if cheesy. My last here is Hasta la vista, primarily for its unbelievably corny and nonsensical lyrics. On a musical aspect, it’s actually okay. This is definitely the strongest semi.
I’m supporting Maria Mohn here. She has everything, a strong and enchanting song with lyrics inspired by incidents in her own family. I think it will come to life on stage. Sofie Fjellvang is a good number two.
