It’s not even close. Mahmood & Blanco are our readers’ favourites to win Sanremo 2022 ahead of the final night.
Their song “Brividi” — that’s shivers, in English — recounts the insecurities of people who don’t always know how to love. Within a day of its release it had already climbed to #5 on the Spotify Global Top 50 chart, moving past the likes of Adele and Ed Sheeran.
The song also tops the provisional rankings of Sanremo 2022 following Night 4. Momentum is clearly on their side. And so are our readers.
We counted a total of 3,579 votes. M&B earned a staggering 1,248 of them — or around 35% of all votes cast. The next closest act — La Rappresentante di Lista — had around 10% of the votes.

Ok they are in my TOP 3 and I would not be mad for them, but my winner is Irama. Sadly his live performance is not as good as studio version. Last editions of Sanremo were much stronger, that’s what I think.
I totally agree with you, this year all the songs are really weak, my favourite are Mahmood’s and Irama’s but only because all the others are perfectly forgettable. Whoever wins Sanremo will not surely win Eurovision too.

Brividi was my favorite first too but then especially Insuperabile grew on me. (Too bad other people don’t seem to like it that much)
Is “Brividi” full of gay romance undertones as the previous article about Sanremo suggests? I don’t know Italian, so I can’t tell. The performance didn’t seem to reflect the topic to me, but I might be wrong.
No, it’s a love song where the gender of the loved person is never mentioned, like in all of Mahmood’s love songs. There’s some sort of “love is love” message with Blanco and Mahmood singing the same love song despite the fact that one of them is straight and the other one is not.

You can watch the official music video. It’s beautiful and mahmood is with a man. I’m not sure but I think it’s kind of his coming out video? I thought it wasn’t 100% confirmed before that he wasn’t straight
That’s not true. The gender is explicit. These are definitely 2 men talking to each other. It’s clear because of the use of Italian grammar. It does not translate into English, unfortunately. Mahmood says “sei cambiato” (“you’ve changed”) at the start of the song, and “sono uno fra i tanti” (“I’m one of many”) towards the end, meaning he’s male and the person in front of him also is. When they harmonise and sing to each other simultaneously in the chorus, they say “mi lasci nudo” (“you leave me naked”). Again “nudo” is a masculine adjective (“a naked man”), so… Read more »

I don’t know if “romance” is the right word, but the song is definitely about sexual tension between 2 men. There is no light at the end of the tunnel, however. They both know it’s not gonna work. It’s about 2 gay men that really like each other, but that mutual infatuation sadly never blossoms into a relationship. They run after each other and dream about being together, but in the end they give up. They accept that they won’t be a couple. This is a gay outlook on a gay encounter. There’s no sugar coating. It’s very sincere.
For me it was the opposite, it’s the performance that gave me a strong gay vibe. Later I watched the video and it confirmed that for me. Can’t believe Blanco is straight and they two are just friends. They act a serious chemistry on stage.

Odds of Italy winning ESC is up to 14%. If they do not choose Brividi, they clearly do not want to host for the second time…

Arcade it was a great ballad. This is something but definitely nothing great about it. For San Remo maybe is good but not for ESC.
Well, it doesn’t look like you say. in 3 days the music video on Youtube scored 8,5 millions views and 5,8 millions views the first Sanremo performance video.. And most of the comment say of “brividi” (shievers) and emotion flowing out to people from this song.
They can’t win with this.
They’ll certainly do better than Netherlands 2021, Israel 2019, Portugal 2018, Ukraine 2017, Austria 2015
