Saturday the 5th of March. That’s when France will decide its artist and song for Torino in their national selection Eurovision France: C’est vous qui décidez. The show kicks off at 21:10 CET and is expected to last two hours and forty minutes.
France 2 will reveal the 12 competing acts and song at a press conference on Wednesday, 16 February. Producers previously described the selection as eclectic, so we expect another year of genre-hopping — from beautiful ballads to dance floor stompers.
The public and a jury of ten musical professionals will once again share responsibility for choosing the Eurovision 2022 act. France’s Eurovision commentators Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini will host the show. Hopefully they will help woo Europeans to tune in, as countries including Denmark, Romania and Serbia also choose that evening.
Eurovision France 2022: C’est vous qui décidez!
France Télévisions introduced C’est vous qui décidez! as a new national final format in 2021. Fans and critics praised the new format, and HoD Alexandra celebrated its success in taking France back to the top of the scoreboard. She later confirmed the show would return in 2022.
The French broadcaster opened submissions for C’est vous qui décidez! 2022 on 21 June 2021. The rules stipulate that, among other things, all performers must be at least 16 years old, and that the songs and compositions entered must be mainly in French and/or regional languages. This includes tongues spoken in overseas French territories, including Reunionese, Corsican, Breton and Futunan.
Who are you hoping to see walk through the doors tomorrow? Let us know in the comments box below!
I’m rooting for Alvan & Ahez – Fulenn, all the other entries are your typical boring French song.
Favorite national selection so far this year. I literally like 11 of the 12 songs. I’d be happy if any of the 11 go to Eurovision.
SOA. ‘Seule’. No doubts. If France wants to stay on top. This is the song. Both voices fit magically and she slays the stage.
S O A with the song « seule » is already brilliant and If it was chose internally would become my number one right now ! « Téléphone « by Elia is also cool …
This NF will slay
France ?? for the win this year !
I watched the ones that are (supposedly) involved that are already on youtube and there’s one I really like, two that I think are pretty good and yeah, looks like a diverse selection again!
Very excited!
I have already 3/6 so far listened on my spotify
I’m excited to see what France will bring us, but as we’ve learned over the course of this national final season, let’s mitigate our expectations. I’d rather not be disappointed
SOA (banger), Elia or Saam, I would be happy. Waiting for the 6 others with the same quality !!
Really looking forward to this! France did so amazing last year let’s hope they bring it again!
Any French people here? Why is it called “C’est vous qui décidez” and not just “Vous décidez”? What’s the difference between these two? (I’m learning French atm, just for fun)
I think the first one is “It’s you who decide” and the second one simply “You decide”
yeah that’s it ! but there ain’t any difference between both of them really it just puts an emphasis on the fact that “you/we/the public” are the one who decide
Yeah it’s to say “It’s YOU who decides!” (you in plural).
hey! “C’est vous qui décidez” is just a way to emphasize the fact that the audience decides, but of course, it could as well have been called “Vous décidez”. “C’est vous qui décidez” could translate as “You are the one that decide”. Actually even us French eurofan find this name unnecessarily long, Eurovision France: Vous décidez would be a better name ^^
I’m french and that’s an interesting question ! I realized i didnt have a straight away answer ahah.
I would Say “vous décidez” seems to be a bit too agressive, short and less efficient marketing wise but i may be wrong.
I feel “c’est vous qui décidez” more natural.
I advise you to not overthink this for an everyday conversation. Both Can be used with no différence in a sentence. I think the Key here is the rythm and marketing of the program name. Hope i helped a bit
(And Hector is right)
Thanks a lot. Yes that helps a bit. I know the translation word by word, but Deepl gives me the same translation for both (into German), That’s why I asked 🙂
And I find it interesting that French people write “ahah” for laughing (haha in English and also German) 😀
Hello, I think this is to insist stronger on the fact it involves people in the choice and ake them realise they have an active role in the process. Also I don’t see the use of “vous décidez” alone. It doesn’t sound natural at all althought it’s not a grammar fault in itself. But it sounds more appropriate using it in a complete sentence (like with a complement following). I dont know if my explanation will help you that much aha…
Also, it’s not often noticed but “C’est vous qui décidez” was already the slogan from the start of Destination Eurovision in 2018. In the introducing clip of each DE episode, the narrator was claiming “from now on and until the last minute, c’est vous qui décidez”. Same with host Garou during several trailers at the time.
Oh that’s interesting. And then all makes sense. Very good. Thanks.
Thanks a lot. There’s useful information also in your comment. Thanks. 🙂
I’m French and not an specialist about our complex language, but littéraly you can say both of them. It’s a choice of style about being more direct or not and give more power to the subject or not. ” Eurovision France, vous décidez ” with a comma it’s correct, the comma refers to what you decide, so Eurovision France. It’s a short form. If you say ” Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez the ” qui ” also refers to what you decide but the ” c’est ” give more impact to the subject ” vous ”. With an another… Read more »
« You are the one who decide »vs « You decide ». I guess they want to emphasise the fact the choice of the winning act is in the viewers’hands…which is partly true.
The meaning is not really different, but in “c’est vous qui decidez” is the COD explained, to give a stronger focus on the fact, that the people do the decission. You could also say it the other way. But if you want to learn french, here is one thing to remember: as more complicated and longer you make a simple sentence, the better ?
France had been so silent but I’m glad they’re now more open and I’m sure they’re gonna deliver a superb NF! I’ll be looking forward to tomorrow’s announcement 🙂
I gotta admit, I feel like there is soooo much expectation that most of the people will naturally be disappointed.
But that’s a good thing to see excitment and it is normal following a runner up placement (: i’m glad my country is taking things seriously and even though i’m a pessimistic (i think one could tell), I very much Hope to love this year french NF selection and add like 3 or 4 songs to my playlist (that would be huge)
None of the leaked (see Spotify) songs are outstanding but let’s wait for the live performances.
Where can i hear them ?
I saw the leaked list of artist & song titles (France 2 made an error and leaked them in their website) and a couple of them are already on Spotify (they were released in January). Some of them are on YT too.
France, you are you are you are you are the best in me. When John Lundvik doesn’t write for you.
Cant wait for the songs!
Im sure something great is coming.
I have high expectations and hopes for France! Hopefully they’ll have amazing songs and even a Eurovision winner this year!
No offence to Serbia, Denmark and Romania, but France has just given me something to be invested in on the 5th of March.
Don’t worry. We all know that the Serbian final is gonna take 3+ hours again so you’ll have no trouble watching at least 2 selections that evening. 😀
the eurofan urge to watch the french selection even tho it’s on the same night as your own country’s national final :p
I have high hopes for this France have been serving quality (except 2020) since 2016.
After last year’s 2nd place I’m sure they’re hungry for the win.
If they have something that is winner worthy, it would be fitting that they would win in 2022 because it would be exactly 45 years after their last victory at eurovision.
