After six weeks of competition, Lithuania has finally selected its entry for Eurovision at the grand final of Eurovizija.LT 2025.

Following five heats (and two wildcards), 12 acts made it to the grand final. By the end of the night, it was Katarsis who walked away with a ticket to Basel thanks to their song “Tavo akys.”

Our hosts for the evening were Gabrielė Martirosian, Nombeko Augustė, and Rimvydas Černiauskas.

Eurovizija.LT 2025: Grand final

Results

There were two rounds in the grand final. Firstly, a combination of 50% jury voting and 50% public voting determined three acts to move on to the superfinal. These were:

  • Liepa – “Ar mylėtum?”
  • Katarsis – “Tavo akys”
  • Lion Ceccah – “Drobė”

In the superfinal, it was entirely down to the public to decide who lifted the trophy and became Lithuania’s next Eurovision star. They chose Katarsis.

Running order

  1. Noy – “Just Take Me on a Date”
  2. Gøya – “After Storm”
  3. Liepa – “Ar mylėtum?”
  4. Gebrasy – “Whole”
  5. Amoralu – “Freedom”
  6. Anyanya – “Running Out of Time”
  7. Justė Baradulinaitė – “Tired”
  8. Katarsis – “Tavo akys”
  9. Petunija – “Į saldumą”
  10. Sophie Ali – “The Bluest Bell”
  11. Lion Ceccah – “Drobė”
  12. Black Biceps – “Visaip man reik”

I understand your frustration with the song and I’m not surprised, but here is the thing. This is Us, Lithuanians, the gloomy, sentimental North-Eastern Europeans, giving you a peace of Us, Our feelings, culture and thoughts in a neat 3 minute package, delivered by a young alt-rock band, that ARE the creators of that song. This Is Us.

Honestly, I don’t understand people who say this won’t qualify. Not qualify where? At your home? If it’s a non-qualification at your home, then congratulations. But it will very much qualify. And I’m sure they’ll rank very high in the public vote. There are a lot of similar pop songs this year, once again, girls are dancing with ballet dancers, boys are dancing with ballet dancers. But we’ve seen all this before, and it’s getting boring. I recently saw a comment that perfectly sums up one of the reasons why they will go through “New Eurovision crush unlocked.” Girls aged… Read more »

(estonia maybe too) – the 3 baltic countrys ultra strong this year with various unique stuff far away from always the same middle of the road bubble sound – lithuania brings new much needed life into the ESC.

My #1 now, though I don’t have a clear fav yet. An-Marlen’s “Kulm” was my one to watch this NF.

Anyway, the three superfinalist were great. Eurovizija has improved a lot.

Also, am I the only one who find “Kulm” and “Ar Myletum?” way too similar. I mean apart from both having trance references.

You can downvote negative comments as much as you want but it won’t change the fact that this song would be a sure NQ if it represented San Marino.

The post-Soviet post-punk scene really is booming after 2000. There is a huge amount of Russian, Ukrainian, Belarussian and Baltic indie/post-punk/darkwave bands that are really amazing. I am so so so glad the genre will be represented in ESC

Loving this entry, it feels like an authentic representation of the artist and is delivered powerfully. This is the type of song that I would like to see do very well and imo is the type of track that the contest definitely needs to appeal to a wider audience. I am hoping that the juries support this act very strongly.

I don’t care about the result at ESC, I am just happy to see my music taste represented at the contest. A great, dark post-punk tune with an atmospheric staging and vocals. Thank you Lithuania and good luck Katarsis!

It’s a risky choice and will polarize Europe for sure. But it stands out, not many songs like it and it is fitting for these dark times in which we live in. And alternative rock is a very underrated genre in ESC so kudos for bringing it tothe stage!

I’m not saying they make the same kind of music, that’s just where my mind went to: angsty rock that was popular among tween girls in 2010.

actually early 2000’s. The iconic LP album came out in 2001 . And no, not just girls. And 2000’s fashion is very trendy right now so You inadvertantly just prooved that this song is very current in terms of fashion.

‘Drobe’ was more depressing song, it’s about domestic violence and toxic relationships.
‘Ar myletum’ was about aging and fading beauty – would you still love me when the glitter (traditional signs of beauty- long hair and amber jewelry) is off?
‘Tavo balsas’ however, has no particular meaning. “I’m crying in your eyes. I’m crying only in Your eyes” – it’s a word salad.

Point is that the least depressive song won.

P.S. shout out to my boy, the unique Lithuanian letter ‘?’ which is not supported by this font

A little Lithuanian language trivia: 1. Name Liepa show the long standing tradition of naming children in nature names. It means Tilia tree or the moth it was named after when it blooms,- July. Yes, we did not name our months after Roman emperors, ours have unique nanes. 2. you can clearly hear different gramatical word case in the song Drobe. Ending letter in these 2 sentences “Leisk man buti tavo drobe” and “as tik tavo drobe” sound differently. Again, shoyt out to the ee letter that is not supported by this song. 3. Katarsis is same as the international… Read more »

So cool that Lithuania take the risk to send a young indieband which brings some fresh, alternative music we seldom have heard on the Eurovison stage before! This is risky, but I simply love that such a band and music like this also is to be heard at Eurovison! Thank you Lithuania for such a bold and exciting choice! So looking forward to see Katarsis on stage in Basle!
