We bop to her Scandipop and tolerate her melodramatic ballads. But truth be told, there’s nothing quite like a Helena Paparizou ethno-club banger. So we’re thanking the Greek gods for “Haide”, the latest single from the Eurovision 2005 winner.

Summer 2017 officially started on 28 April, the day Helena dropped “Haide”. Loosely translating as “Go”, the track radiates Mediterranean heat. Replete with traditional instruments, ethno-beats and lush harmonies, we’re instantly transported to the blue waters and white sands of the Greek seaside.
Forget about the so-so “Fiesta”, this takes us right back to the hits of Helena’s heyday ten years ago. It’s so 2005 without being two thousand and late.
The Swedish-Greek star has even released an English version to further our enjoyment, although as is often the case, sometimes it’s better when you don’t understand what’s being said.
The accompanying music video captures the mood perfectly. We watch as Helena and her gal pals unwind by the pool and play tricks on unsuspecting waiters. There’s lots of sunshine, a highly choreographed dance routine and oodles of Bioten product placement. What more could you want?

Alas, “Haide” doesn’t appear to mark a Paparizou renaissance. For shortly afterwards, the “My Number 1” hitmaker gave us “Colour Your Dream” — a wretchedly dated dance number. And not in a good way!
There’s even flashbacks to the awful Scooter when a heavily auto-tuned man shouts “Are you ready”. However, the song is for a good cause. It’s the anthem for this year’s Colour Day Festival, which celebrates diversity, so we’ll lay down the axe and replay “Haide” instead.

This sounds as lousy noisy rubbish plastic pop as number one was back then … this is like an Ace Of Base rejected song whereas Number One was a rejected B-Side for Shakira … but God forbid me from upsetting the overwhelming lovers of 100% televoting musical choices … or the all the children who love bubblegum.
This is a very trashy song.
you reckon?
i find it very catchy tbh but guess it’s a matter of taste.
She obviously sung better songs, but this is still very very catchy and easily memorable.
She still reached 1.32 million views in less than a month which implies that people liked the song
this product placement kinda ruins the video for me, i mean the video lasts about 3 minutes and one minute of it contains product placement (it’s too much)
anyway i actually like the song and helena still looks amazing
The English version videoclip is the same but without the shampoo infomercial. I too prefer the original Greek, though. Great song!
what about new single It’s complicated from Maraaya(Slovenia 2015) and BQL (second at EMA 2017)?? It’s a great song and it will be a great hit. Btw Maraaya is now VEVO!!!
shame!
The Maraaya song is actually quite good.
So bad song for Helena! Come on it’s 2017!
Very catchy song.
LoVE Helena!x
Many Eurovision acts are releasing their “summer hits”.
The Polish Michal also had a new song, I don’t know if I like it or hate it.
Haide is a great banger. Hopefully Helena will release a new album soon.
