We’re not really into Iceland’s options this year. Are you? What do you think of Birgitta’s song? Who do you want to see win?
Birgitta performs during the semi-finals in Iceland:
It feels like a choice between genres rather than the actual songs, because none of them seem to offer anything more; We just fall back on vague prejudices about what style we usually prefer or imagine others will prefer.
I wonder how much conviction people voted with.
They each have good points, but repeated listens have not yet brought me any further reward or insight. I’m just going to wait for them to choose a winner before I invest any more attention.
I was amused by the 70s era TV theme music for the contest.
I am hoping for Unnur Eggertsdóttir with “Ég Syng!” or Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson with “Ég á Líf”. Brigitta’s song is good – and would have done well a few years ago – but not today.
