Even though Israeli actress, model and all around Wonder Woman Gal Gadot was too busy to host Eurovision in Tel Aviv this year, it doesn’t mean she won’t make an appearance…even if it’s pre-recorded. And today long awaited details of the star’s involvement in the contest were finally revealed by Israeli Magazine Israel Hayom.
According to the tabloid, Gal will appear in a video sketch where she lands in Israel and gets into a taxi driven by none other than Yuval Semo.
Although the name Yuval Semo may be unfamiliar to those outside of Israel, he’s a big deal. The Israeli actor and comedian played a taxi driver in the popular comedy show Erez Nehedert (“A Great Country” in English) for several seasons. In-between punchlines the celebrity-duo will introduce the host country to viewers and show them everything it has to offer.
As amazing as this sounds, the paper also reports that Yuval Semo wasn’t KAN’s first choice. Apparently producers tried to get James Corden — the British comedian and host of the American viral hit “Carpool Karaoke”. They wanted him to discover the country alongside viewers.
Although Plan A and James Corden didn’t work out, we think Yuval is perfect for the role. We have the slightest suspicion that he’s more familiar with Tel Aviv than James anyway…
With Eurovision less than a month away, KAN’s full plans are slowly being revealed — and it’s clear they want Israel to put on a proper star-studded spectacle. International stars such as Madonna and a host of previous Eurovision winners have already been announced as interval acts, and it seems that Eurovision won’t be shy of local queens either!
Suddenly those sky-high ticket prices seem more than worth it.
What do you think? Which celebrity are you most excited to see appear at Eurovision in Tel Aviv? Let us know in the comments!
She is wonderful! A wonderful woman, can’t wait to see her
The only thing that I really like so far about the approach of Israel to eurovision is the stage and the led which as I saw in a picture can be become “smaller pieces” allowing countries to not use a led background. This gives more creativite options to the countries imo
I hope no one else follows Israel’s footpath on this. Eurovision is not a show about « which and how many top celebs did this country bring to the table? » but it’s still supposed to be about songs and performances. Or will the grand final interval act be the climax of the whole contest? I want hosts/guests that have established talent sure but not that are hired for attention seeking purposes.
Could not agree more.
It’s not attention seeking, it’s entertainment and it’s what the crowd wants alongside the music
Would be cool if they could stop stuffing every celebrity they managed to get their hands on into this show, just to portray Israel as cool. ESC fans want singers from the participating countries, a cool scoreboard and a cool voting sequence. I don’t give a sh*t about Madonna, Gal Gadot, Natalie Portman, etc. Stop trying to turn Eurovision into something it’s not.
Gal Gadot and Natalie Portman are both Israeli citizens. Madonna connected herself almost completely to Israel, including an Israeli name.
ESC fans aren’t the majority watching Eurovision. It is not an authenticity or even music contest, it is an entertainment show.
Don’t forget Lior suchard ! He is a world wide known mentalist as well !
Best interview. This is how you do it.

We need her in the show!
Love Gal. It will be so amazing having her associated with ESC.
