He’s the Belgian artist who simply brought his guitar to the Eurovision 2010 stage and managed to steal our hearts. But following “Me and My Guitar”, Tom Dice has now added another member to his musical team, forming The Starlings with fellow Belgian singer Kato Callebaut. The duo have recently released their latest single “On My Way”.

This new single stays in the same genre as their previous songs from earlier in the year. It’s easy listening music, with a layer of melancholic and acoustic guitar; and, of course, the harmonic voices of Kato and Tom.

The Starlings – “On My Way”

About The Starlings

Tom Dice participated for Belgium at Eurovision in 2010. He brought the country back to the final after six years of non-qualifications with just himself and his guitar. After Eurovision, Tom went solo for a while, until he met Kato Callebaut.

Kato Callebaut is most known for participating in Idool 2011 (the Belgian version of the Idol singing competition series), where she finished second in the final. After Idool, she signed a contract with Sony Music Records and released various solo singles, including “The Joker”, “Flamingo” and “Dancing On My Own”. Kato released two solo albums before teaming up with Tom: Flamingo (2011) and Warrior (2013).

Tom and Kato have known each other for a long time. Both are singer-songwriters, and in 2013 they decided to write a song together: “Breaking Up Slowly”. In 2018, the two became a couple. They eventually decided to come together not only in love, but also in music. And with that, The Starlings were born.

The Starlings – “Mine”

“On My Way” is their newest and third single. Their debut single “Mine” and was released in January 2019, with their second song “Never Alone” following in April. “Never Alone” is a little bit more uptempo compared to “Mine” and “On My Way”.

The Starlings have been touring trough Belgium and The Netherlands over the course of this year. They typically perform in small and intimate settings, and have also appeared on a number of different radio shows.

Indeed, the duo recently performed a stripped back and beautiful cover of Loreen’s “Euphoria” on Belgian Radio 2. It seems Tom hasn’t lost his love for Eurovision over the course of the past decade.

This song is superb. I think this ‘Nashville’ feel, vibe, great song and uplifting message would be Top 10 in any Eurovision year.
