He’s the Sanremo 2019 champion and Eurovision 2019 runner-up that has been dominating the Italian music scene over the past year. And now Mahmood has released the music video for his latest single “Dorado” — an Italian-Latino banger with golden Arabic influences.
For this new song, Mahmood has brought a few friends along. He teams up with Italian rapper Sfera Ebbasta and Colombian singer/songwriter Feid.
Following its release last week, “Dorado” has nearly amassed 2 million streams on Spotify. This has helped it climb Spotify’s Top 50 in Italy, where the song currently sits at #23. The track is also presently at #22 on the Italian iTunes charts.

Mahmood goes from rags to riches in “Dorado” music video
Sponsored by Italian coffee company Lavazza, the video for “Dorado” is a golden multicultural feast for the eyes. It was directed by Attilio Cusani, the man behind the music videos for Mahmood’s Eurovision 2019 song “Soldi” and previous single “Barrio”.
Mahmood is known for his clever wordplay and the “Dorado” MV echoes the lyrical content of the song well. A rags-to-riches story, the video begins with Mahmood singing alone in a near empty room that doesn’t have much more than an electric fan and a poster of American singer Lana Del Rey. The Italian star spends his time watching a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
We then escalate quickly to find Mahmood, Sfera Ebbasta and Feid dancing and relaxing in a museum of Egyptian artefacts and on top of a ginormous Sphinx. Additionally, the three artists are now dressed more lavishly, covered in jewels and gold. This perfectly emulates one of Feid’s Spanish lines in the song, “Empezamo’ desde bajo y estamo’ aquí” – “We started from the bottom, now we’re here”.
It is also clear from the music video that Mahmood hasn’t been slacking on his workouts during coronavirus lockdown. The Italian stallion goes topless for a large portion of the video, showing off his extremely toned body – we are feeling a tad thirsty, coffee anyone?

Gionata Boschetti, better known as Sfera Ebbasta, was born 7 December 1992 in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy. He rose to fame after the release of the XDVR album, which gained platinum status. Sfera’s star kept growing as his next two albums Sfera Ebbasta and Rockstar went to number one in Italy, gaining double platinum and 5x platinum respectively. Also, thanks to the success of his latest album, the rapper became the first Italian star to make it onto Spotify’s chart of the top 100 streamed artists globally.

One of the coolest and most talented artists in the musical scene
Seems that he had no problem to dance in this video but in his 2019 postcard he was just walking around.
He is so inventive. Every song special and fresh! I love this.
He’s so hot.
I need a boyfriend like Mahmood to speak to me in Italian.
Song is good too! Big fan of his after Eurovision. Him and Duncan where my winners so glad that the Netherlands and Italy finished first and second respectively.
He keeps getting better and better.
loved that Bugs Bunny reference
He should have worn the same outfit at Eurovision. Maybe that would have brought him the few missing points for the victory he would have deserved.
