The reigning champions of Eurovision 2021 are back in the Junior contest after skipping 2020. Italy has an impressive record in both contests over the last decade, having won both of them once. At Junior Eurovision, its last two entries came seventh.
Elisabetta Lizza was announced as Italy’s singer for Junior Eurovision 2021 in November. She sings, dances and plays the piano, and has been performing in musicals for three years.
What do the “Specchio (Mirror On The Wall)” lyrics mean?
“Specchio” uses the mirror as a metaphor for one’s insecurities. In the song, Elisabetta asks the mirror to accept her and embrace her as she is, and to not lie to her again.
“The mirror laughs at my affections, at my setbacks”, Elisabetta sings. However, she’s standing strong before her demons: “I am here, without any filter or any deception”. “Look for the reflex inside me and you will never lie to me again”.
