The annual Head of Delegations meeting is taking place right now in Vienna, with all forty competing nations submitting their songs to the EBU at the two-day event. A number of other important pieces of information are being revealed, including the random draw to determine where Austria will sing in the Grand Final. In the last few moments, it has been revealed that they will sing 14th!
That means The MakeMakes will perform right in the middle of the 27-song final and when we’ll no doubt hear the loudest cheer of the night from all of Austria! Of course, we’re sure that Austria will also be hoping that the band don’t share the same fate as last year’s 14th participants…
Austria’s position was chosen by a random draw, with ORF’s producers deciding the running orders for all three live shows otherwise, with countries already having decided which half of their semi final they will be performing in. Details of the running orders for the semi finals will be revealed soon.
Other details that have been revealed include confirmation that Bojana Stamenov will perform “Beauty Never Lies“, the English language version of her song “Ceo svet je moj” at Eurovision. All the acts in the Grand Final will also enter the stage over a “magic bridge of light” at the start of the show, tying in with the “Building Bridges” theme that has run throughout this contest and also sounds like a similar concept to the open of the 2013 Contest.
Also confirmed was the return of the red carpet ceremony, which this year will take place on Sunday the 17th May at the Rathausplatz. Finally (for now), the provisional dates for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest have been announced as the 10th, 12th and 14th of May, effectively two weeks earlier than this year’s actual dates.

I’m glad they moved the dates. I don’t think I could handle Eurovision and the Monaco Grand Prix on the same weekend again! I’m very disappointed that Serbia is going with the English version. I thought the Serbian was so much more powerful. Same with Romania’s song.
@Otna: I highly doubt this well-sung, polished entry will suffer the same fate as the French did last year… even if you don’t like the song, I think it’s pretty clear that the jury will at least assign it a few more points than they gave France.
@Thiefo Montenegro performed entirely in English in 2009.
I don’t get why the host country doesn’t perform first to open up the show not like some are aiming to win anyway…

So it’s official, both Serbia and Israel decided to end their tradition of singing (at least in part) in their native language and switched to 100% english. I wonder if Montenegro will follow the same path? Hopefully not!
The song might leave enough smiles for some people. I doubt the votes will guarantee the band to reach a higher position.

I wish Austria was drawn to perform a bit earlier, because it’s not something I’m going to be looking forward to at all, but I’m glad it’s no later either. The fate of last year’s 14th singers could very well be replicated…

They are bad, weak and boring. Austria was good once but this is generally country without ambitions.
I think bojana singing in English will help her chances of qualification. I think Austria can also do well from 14th also
Nope. The song is going nowhere. In another news, EBU has announced that due to complaints from Azerbaijan, they are going to “look into the Armenian song”. Ughhh…so frustrating.
