Molly Smitten-Downes, the UK’s Eurovision 2014 starlet, knows how to spoil her fans. Not content to simply provide us with the killer new single, “Lock Up Your Daughter”, she gave it away for FREE! Better still, she also offered fans the chance to star in the official promo video. And now, just in time for Christmas, she’s uploaded the finished results. Needless to say we love it.

The clip is wonderfully retro, and fits perfectly with the overall feel of the track. We particularly love the Marilyn Monroe tribute and the New York hip hoppers. Look closely and you’ll even spot a cameo from the main lady herself. Our only concern is that this wild child anthem might lead the adorable little waving girl astray. We trust Molly will look after her.

“Lock Up Your Daughter” is easily one of the best post Eurovision releases of the year. If she keeps this up, Molly will definitely be a name to watch in 2015.

Love her songs. Love to see her back.e Could someone please do an article on the UK entries sent for ESC 2015 put on YouTube. It would be interesting to hear some of them. Although the UK shortlisted have been selected and were told over a week ago.

Nah xD Deleted my account ages ago, I basically just use WiwiBloggs now to find out the news, in the past used websites like EscNation/Today/Kaz etc.

Exactly, I know at one point their was a rumour it was/is going to be ‘Lisbee Stainton’ she has a very nice, unique sound. I think they got it exactly right with Molly, the song just looked awful on stage though. Awful camera angles, drugged up drummer, feathers everywhere, Molly jiggling her *ahums* at the camera, and she just got nervous I guess. It just didn’t translate on stage, sadly.

@Mavision I think going through BBC Introducing can only be a good thing though. I think they were only accepting entries from outside that for politeness haha! I’ve heard some of them cos people posted on youtube, and they are horrific! The bbc intro ones will at least have talent and would have been scouted by the bbc previously for chart success and not necessarily for eurovision, which I think works more, I mean look at loreen. Isn’t the usual eurovision type of music but it worked for Sweden AMIRIGHT?! Haha!

Do you have twitter?

I agree @Lea. Molly was pretty much the perfect participant for me, my favourite of the year just as Kati was. It *is* going to be someone who has sent through the platform where they were accepting songs, they also stated that they’d keep working with ‘labels’ such as BBC Introducing for other entries too. So it’s going to be one or the other, unlikely to be a known artist.

Coldplay?! Srsly?! Nope, they wouldn’t even try, they don’t need the publicity. It’ll be someone from BBC Introducing again and it’ll be amazing I think! I think Molly is the UK’s Kati Wolff, in the sense that she didn’t do as well as hoped but has re-ignited interest in the competition across the country.

Molly was very amazing last May. But I’m still expecting Coldplay for Vienna 2015!
