Days after winning Objetivo Eurovisión with “Say Yay!” Spanish popstress Barei performed her song for Stockholm on the morning television show La mañana de La 1. And fans are saying it’s even better than her national final performance.
In her first live performance since winning the national final, Barei brought energy to the morning chat show as she performed “Say Yay!”. The awkward live backing vocalists of Objetivo Eurovisión were gone, with Barei delivering a scorching hot live vocal along with the pre-recorded backing track.
She also did her version of the Kurt Calleja shuffle, and even gave the show hosts a demonstration of the moves.
Barei’s live performance showed that she has the vocal chops to deliver the song. We’re not sure if the shuffle steps would work in Stockholm, but Spain can usually be relied on for good staging.

Read more »
Read more »
paco, I am against the horrible decision of the Spanish public claimed Barei’s “Say Yay” to be “best choice”, “great song”, and “sounding better than ever”. Well, in reality, Douwe Bob, Serhat, Barei, and Iveta Mukuchyan are WEAK, WEAK, WEAK! They will never win Eurovision Stockholm 2016, just like when Donald Trump will never win the presidency and heading for prison! You are like HendrikT and Hector, acting too socialist in contempt!
HendrikT and Héctor, I disagree! Douwe Bob, Serhat, Barei, and Iveta Mukuchyan are WEAK, WEAK, WEAK! They are acting like Donald Trump, arrogant and determined to win because they had been chosen by the broadcasters, but in reality, they will not!

I actually like the moves! She sounded terrific here, Spain has a great entry.
Did they really remove the little piece of Spanish in her song? That is sad.
PS – Donald Trump? Well now that’s … random …
What got Edurne in trouble was a series of televised performances on which she sang badly out of tune. Her fans didn’t care, and the tone-deaf among us couldn’t tell. The rest of us were clawing our ears off. (Side note: This is not dissing tone-deaf people. A lot of people just aren’t sensitive to pitch. It’s like being colorblind.) This performance was miles ahead of what Edurne was doing at this point. I’m still not crazy about the song, but Barei sang it about as well as it could be sung. She’ll be just fine. I’m predicting mid-scoreboard for… Read more »
@HendrikT: I 100% agree with you, but don’t feed the troll. 😉
You guys are too tough on her.
At the begining the female host asked her to don’t change her dance moves, and she said “I won’t change them” ….. This girl needs to listen (to those who want her to remove those dance moves, of course). She has nice vocals, and this performance was better, she needs to work in her looks a bit more.
I don’t think that people watching the Eurovision final will remember that in 2012 Kurt Calleja made that move tbh… The song needs to be improved, especially at the final part (after the 3:10 in this video, around 1:30 in the 3 min clip), and also give more importance to that dark start and the key change to make the chorus more enjoyable and different. And please, @JohnCristian , all of us know what you think about those “WEAK WEAK WEAK” entries, which I personally consider rather “STRONG STRONG STRONG”. I think it’s time to stop spamming the same thing… Read more »
@John Christian Weak…like your argument? Barei, along with Douwe, Serhat and Iveta (the last three albeit with no song yet released for you to properly judge and thus justifiably launch a tirade against) may not be your cup of tea, but they have plenty of time to workshop her performance until Eurovision, not only from the vocal aspect, but staging, pyrotechnics, backing… Whilst your view that Barei is a weak singer isn’t shared with the majority of people but is still respectable by all means, it is completely unreasonable to judge Barei on aspects other than her performance. Barei is,… Read more »
She may have won Objetivo Eurovision to represent Spain to Stockholm, but she is acting and performing more like Donald Trump! She is getting weaker and weaker every time she performs her “entry to Stockholm”! Maria Isabel should have won instead of this bigot! Douwe Bob, Serhat, Barei, and Iveta Mukuchyan are WEAK, WEAK, WEAK!
awww those Spanish camera’s xD
She didn’t knew which camera was on and they changed it at the time she found it :/ Great performance, great song, great artist, go Spain!
I am SO disappointed that they will sing in English. They were already one of the few last countries to sing in their national languages, now we’re just left with France, Italy, Portugal (not even participating this year), and sometimes one or two Balkan countries (and of course UK, Ireland and Malta, but that’s easy for them ;)). This is really really sad. The last non-English song to win the contest was in 2007 (in Serbian), I am waiting for the day it’ll happen again! Europe is a continent extremely rich of its cultural diversity, it’s the #1 destination in… Read more »
Am I the only one that finds no issue with the dancing? I think it fits with the fun and ‘do what makes you happy’ vibe. This song has really grown on me mostly due the way Barei brings it to life
I think she has great stage presence! If possible, too much, she need to tone it down. Not ramp it up.
No need for those foot moves, really! Other than that it’s a great song and a great singer. I hope the ESC stage presentation is more insightful.
I think the song is a hit or miss song… it could either become a huge favourite in Stockholm or be completely forgotten about…I am not sure myself… I think Barei isnt the best singer.. and she doesnt have so much stage presence..
The song is something that firmly establishes the whole show. “Say Yay!” is lax and loose song, therefore it needs to be changed.
If she was able to change her image, the next step should be to change the song.
Thank god she delivered this time, she was on point! the night of the selection she was a bit shouty but that was probably due to the awful sound. Still I think she should lose the dance moves, she said it was original… she hasn’t seen Kurt Calleja’s performance apparently
Am I the only one who feels like this song is put together by several other songs that I’ve already heard, but I can’t put my finger on it? “Say Yay” is an okay/nice song, but definitely not the winner.
Hoping that she removes the Kurt Callejas’tribute… Anyways I’m pleased that she did a live performance to prove her vocals are on point. Needs to work harder (backing vocales and staging) and promotion!
