They’ll sing for Montenegro at Eurovision and have spent the past weeks singing for audiences across Europe. And last week, Montenegro’s D Mol found themselves in Madrid, Spain for the PreParty ES.

Three members of the group – Željko, Mirela and Rizo – spoke to wiwibloggs about the band, their song and the competition.

How was D mol formed?

The group members explain that they met at music school.

That school was also called D mol which gave the group their name. The group was formed by Danijel Alibabić, who participated in Eurovision 2005 for Serbia & Montenegro with the band No Name.

They explain that each of them have a different style of singing and this diversity allows them to fit in like a ‘family’. Danijel entered them to participate at Eurovision and will also mentor the group in Tel Aviv.

The song and performance

“Heaven” was written for the group for Eurovision

They acknowledge that the studio version heard before Montevizija, was not received well, but believe their talent was proved when they performed live.

On the revamp, they reveal it was their decision to add the ethnic elements.

When asked what the main message of the song is, Željko said, “Love and be loved”.

Mirela added, “We want to share love and a people positive message”.

The music video

When asked about their music video, they explain that they filmed in various locations around Montenegro. It showcases the country’s natural beauty to the world, which the band are proud of, saying the country is “small but beautiful”.

Asked which past Eurovision singer would be their inspiration if they had the chance to represent Montenegro as a solo act, each member had a different answer. Željko answered with Željko Joksimovic, Mirela said Helena Paparizou and Rizo with Alexander Rybak.

What do you think? Do you like the message of “Heaven”? What are your hopes for Montenegro’s staging? Let us know in the comments below!

It makes me sad that so many people are mean about them. Yes the song isn’t great but they seem like really lovely people and they’re just here to have fun
