It’s a data-driven indicator of global buzz that looks at a song’s recent rise in plays, how often people are sharing it, and how many people recently discovered it. And eleven days after Eurovision 2022, the Spotify Global Viral Top 50 Chart continues to include artists from Turin in its mix.
Last week 23 ESC 2022 acts made the cut. This week nine have managed to remain on the list.
Norway’s Subwoolfer are the highest-charting of the survivors, coming in at #13 with their amusing dance number “Give That Wolf A Banana.”
The buzz is definitely there. Their performance was given a big spotlight recently on the UK edition of Gogglebox, with the show’s reactors laughing out loud with Keith and Jim.

The yellow wolves also got love on HBO’s satirical news show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Kalush Orchestra, who last week hit #3, remain on the list at #15.

Viral chart is not about the most played/streamed songs but virality especially for new artists with zero presence.
I saw “Give That Wolf A Banana” also got played on the BBC’s “Have I Got News For You”.

It’s fine that you mention this Viral chart, but actually, the one that matters is the global streaming one, and unfortunately this year the songs are not doing it so well as last year with Maneskin, but it was very hard to have the same huge numbers that they got after they won
Also, because Maneskin won by playing the music and not the politic card.
Rock is also more widely popular than ethnic music combined with rap and Italian is more pleasant and inoffensive to western crowds than an eastern Slavic language.
Let’s stop acting brand new; Stefania was never going to be a huge hit but at least it’s doing miles better than 1944. Ending xenophobia is a long and complex process.
Ok but your comment is misleading and bringing up xenophobia in this specific case is unfair:
1) This year, the only two slavic songs reached the top 5 of the televote; Last year, Ukraine was second only to Måneskin;
2) A Ukrainian song collected the highest televote score ever recorded;
You have no indication that suggests Ukraine is perceived as offensive; quite the opposite. Don’t project your beliefs on a macro-scale.
And please don’t blame the commercial failure of Stefania on sociological topics that don’t fit in the context. It’s just not good enough top become a hit.

In a way, yes, but also the US, since we’re talking about charts that include other major markets.

I can see why some would think it’s inappropriate but I think it’s fine getting rid of the trophy. It’s admirable they’re willing to part from it for a worthy cause and it is obviously not meant to disrespect the contest, its fans or anyone. I remember in 2017, when Kristian Kostov became one of the biggest favourites before the grand final he said that if he’d win, he’d take the trophy to Moscow and smash it for Youtube views. Anybody else and I wouldn’t like it, but obviously this is different. I would hope that the highest bidder tells them to keep it, though.
That would be nice but I don’t know how probable that is. Without getting anything in return it would essentially just be a huge donation.
We need to find someone who’s wealthy and simultaneously doesn’t care about the ESC. Maybe people who are on Twitter should try spamming Elon Musk with links to the auction, since he seems to be in a buying mood lately?
It’s a smart way to turn the symbolism of their win into action. Whatever funds they can raise from it are going to be of infinitely more value than the trophy collecting dust on a shelf.
I admit it took me a minute or two to fully realise that, but I got there in the end.

Why do the presenters say “let the Eurovision Song Contest begin” three times? My understanding is that something can only “begin” once.
Why aren’t Luxembourg back in the contest? The prime minister of the country was literally in the arena for the final this year – do something, Mr. Bettel!
Why did Mika’s family move the television into the kitchen to watch the contest every year? I didn’t get that.
Are Laura Pausini and Idina Menzel the same person?
They have expressed on and off interest to return but it appears the only real reason why Luxembourg is still a ESC Alumni is monetary.
Apparently Luxembourg actually has high public interest so with their prime minister showing interest in the contest it gives me hope that maybe he could help out in the return of the country to the contest. Hoping this happens at some point!
I mean, they are a tax haven – so it’s not like they don’t have the money.
Stéphane Bern (French ESC commentator) who is also half luxembourgish and specially close from some european leaders (including the man you’re talking about) claimed during the intro of the Grand Final that they (the leaders) are trying to bring back the country and discussions are being held right now. The main issue seems to be about challenging fundings and participation parameters for their broadcaster RTL.

I love Idina Menzel. She is really a Broadway Legend! She was born to act and sing in musicals. Laura Pausini has a powerful voice and an extraordinary career for a non English speaking singer. Their looks are a bit similar, but their voices are quite different.
