Are you reddi for the show? On Super Saturday — that’s 11 February — Denmark will choose this year’s Eurovision entry, as Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2023 gets underway in Arena Næstved.
We asked our readers to vote for their favourite in the Danish line-up. And now the results are in.
EYJAA are favourites to win Dansk Melodi Grand Prix
There were two clear favourites in our poll, but coming out on top were the Danish-Icelandic sister duo of EYJAA with “I Was Gonna Marry Him”. They earned a grand total of 422 votes – which is 29.06% of all those cast.
Right behind in a close second place we find the Faroese TikTok sensation Reiley and “Breaking My Heart”. Reiley took 420 votes or 28.93% of the total.
As you can see from the results below, the two acts in front were well ahead of three others who had almost the same amount of votes, amounting to 9-10% of the total vote.
If you place your bets according to plays on Spotify, it’s a different story. Here we see Reiley being well ahead of the rest with 33% of all streams. Micky Skeel comes second with 21% and EYJAA third with 16%.

I don’t know Denmark hasn’t had the best national final for the last couple years, but I will give this year’s selection this. There is actually something I do like here, unlike last year where I liked none of the entries.
Our best chance is Eyjaa, so I hope we will send them to Eurovision
Soren and Reiley are my favorites here, but the first has the edge for me. Would be pleasant to see him in Liverpool 🙂
weak final (another one fromDenmark) and EYJAA is clearly the best choice with Reiley as 2nd best one and i think Reiley will easily win the televoting in Denmark.
For me so far the weakest NF together with Latvia….
I cannot feel how EYJAA will win the contest. It’s not bad but it is not strong enough, lacking something, I feel like listening to it in the background at a JOE & THE JUICE bar in Copenhagen. Reiley has the strongest entry, to me. It’s very contemporary, and he looks talented. Can’t see if any of these songs will go into the final with low odds, though. I love the old school live orchestra BUT DR need to follow modern days.. if it was a possibility to get an orchestra in Eurovision..well fine then but right now it just change the tone so what we hear in DMGP isnt quite what we are gonna hear in Eurovision which can end up with the song falling a bit flat I dont get the hype about EYJAA either.. its not a bad song and if it wins then couldve been worse but its not hitting me in the same way that it apparently hits so many others Im more… Read more »

I don’t share you opinion. NF and Eurovision doesn’t have to be copy/paste (which, may I add, the staging from the danish national final usually is)
Daaamn, it really was close. When I first heard the songs, Reiley was my favourite and Eyjaa were my second favourite, however, ive been liking Søren’s song the more ive listened to it and I think with a solid live performance, it might stand out. Reiley is still the song I’d select but it’ll be interesting to see Søren’s live.

Completely agree, Soren to Liverpool would be a very pleasant surprise.
I do feel like it’s less of bottom feeder lineup than the years before but not by that much. My only pick here is Riley. A rather catchy, pleasant pop song that could get Denmark out of the semi final. There a rock song in there that wasn’t so bad, either if I remember correctly. Or Rock-like? I’m not a fan of “I Was Gonna Marry Him”. Let the guy see the world and have some wine.

I actually only just listened to Eyjaa’s song; I love the story of “I was gonna marry him”, even though musically the song has things in it that are not to my taste (whistling, why?!).
As it happens, I was gonna marry someone once, and I was left to “die,” so I know how they feel. Be prepared for Maia Maia to possibly win this final though. (I hope that doesn’t happen, but even so. Brace yourselves.)
I think the song is about teenage infatuation, not actual love.

Well… I don’t have much to back up my theory. Except that the singers are only 16 and 18. They never say anything nice or good about the object of their desire, except for his physical attributes. This was only ever a one-sided affair, especially if the person in question was also a teenager. Of course he wants to see the world, he is too young to settle down. The character singing this song was just writing “Mrs. X” over and over in her schoolbook. She doesn’t think so, but she will soon be over it. Plausible?

I like about half of these songs, but not strongly. Gimme the slick pop of Reiley or Maia, but Eyjaa is fine.
It’s funny how fans complain about how generic Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is third year in a row… and then choose the most mediocre song with the tritest lyrics out of this generic, in their opinion, lineup all these 3 years
Nicklas Sonne is the only good choice. The rest is really predictable and generic.
