Nu kör vi! After five weeks of heats we have narrowed 30 songs down to 12 entries, that will compete in the Melodifestivalen 2024 grand final in Friends Arena in Stockholm on Saturday. The winner will travel a little further south in Sweden to compete on home soil at Eurovision in Malmö in May.
Five acts qualified as winners of their respective heats, five other acts came second and also won a direct qualification and the last two acts came through the final qualification round that took place after heat 5. You can see the entries in the running order further down.

Still angry that Scarlet isnt in the final, they would have been the perfect one to send to ESC this year for us. But it is what it is. Tonight I wish for M&M to win and they probably will, I also like Liamoo.

why are Marcus&Martinus so popular?? the song is super generic and their singing voices are extremely weak. The lyrics are cringe, the performance is cringe and they look like teenagers doing a show at their high school. I don’t get it. Is it because they are sweet? I don’t know and I’m a Swede. I haven’t heard of them outside of Melfest. They seem sweet and super friendly and down to earth. But this song and performance is absolutely not worth the hype. False, it’s the only competitive Melfest song this year. Their vocals are also great.
If it’s a year Sweden should try something else than a pop song it’s now when they’re hosts and doesn’t “need” to win. So I would’ve loved to see Smash Into Pieces win om Saturday. But with the success Sweden has had with their pop formula songs from other genres stands no chance. So it’ll be another pop song and then I have no strong feelings, Cazzy Opeia maybe, or Medina or Jay Smith. Apart from those they can choose whatever they want, also my fellow Norwegians M & M.
I’d say their best chance is maybe Maria Sur.. Personnaly I would vote for Smash into pieces, i like Medina because i’m French and it ‘s the kind of beat that works there. But nothing groundbreaking

Circus X was def the most impression performance of Melodifestivalen ! This is the kind of artists some countries would dream to have as their representatives. Sweden made their biggest mistake last Saturday. Now I would choose Maria Sur. But « popularityfestivalen » will probably send Marcus & Martinus or Dotter.
Jay Smith (how is he dead last?) or Smash into Pieces. From the bunch of favs I’d go for Maria Sur or M&M.
Medina is the only good song, the rest are trash
All in all, my 2 favorites are Jacqline, though her song is really enjoyable but terribly predictible and “mello” as hell, and Medina which I find very original.
I’m rooting for Jacqline as I feel like she’s serving main girlie pop energy and the beat is sick, but I’m 99% sure M&M will win. Whoever designed the stage turned a mid song into an eyecandy.
Circus X was the only song that could fight for top 5 here. Sweden, like the last time when they hosted, will have a grand final filler song. And that is actually fine since they became boring with their jury bait songs.
Danny is the best! So underrated, but people somehow call it overrated.
I know there is probably no chance of this happening, but it would be awesome to see Sweden to pick Medina so they finally are not sending something in English. Plus, it’s always more fun when they host country sends a party song instead of a ballad.

Marcus & Martinus are bringing QUALITY this year! I thought they couldn’t possibly deliver anything better than Air but I was wrong! Another top 10 finish for Sweden if they send M&M, although Dotter would be a lovely contrast too! Sweden know what they’re doing as usual lol
Their staging is phenomenal. The song itself is ok but the staging and performance elevates it.
Dotter for the win
My top 3 of this year’s Melodifestivalen:
1. Fröken Snusk – “Unga & Fria” (9.5/10)
2. Scarlet – “Circus X” (9/10)
3. Maria Sur – “When I’m Gone” (8/10)
My top two however, got eliminated due to recency bias and it hurts very bad. So, I’ll also throw Cazzi Opeia in there, with “Give My Heart A Break” (8/10), which is the only quality song left alongside Maria Sur’s.
It’s a shame that none of the popular songs on Spotify made it into the final. I was so sure Fröken Snusk would go through, but 500 votes difference or something like that stopped her…
Doing the final qual at the same day with Heat 5 really was a dumb idea, since it also proved that most Swedish people have the attention span of a goldfish.
That means Jacqline or Danny will win, since they are the last two entries performing in the final? 🙂

None of the Swedish songs strike me as ESC winners. So, I don’t have an interest in who wins.
While I am prepared for a M&M victory, I don’t think they are Sweden’s best pick here. I think Dotter would bring a more sentimental and impactful package to Malmö. Her song screams for a more intimate stage, which ESC is giving us this year. Also, there really aren’t sad girl ballads in the mix, and the contest needs one.
I always root for Dotter, she is one of my favourite artists (outside Eurovision or Mello). I bet she has something more to show us in the final and perhaps she seals the trophy that way! Who knows…
Other than that, M&M are superb, so is Danny Saucedo (looove his song and staging).

There are plenty of “she” pronouns in Unforgettable. No big deal, nobody bats an eyelid. A shame there is never any gay equivalent.
Question. Does the object of desire in this song actually exist in real life? I doubt it. Most pop songs are pure fiction. With this own mind, why can’t the song be about a “he”? I don’t care if M and M are hetero or not, the preferences of the performer should not be relevant. Like actors.

The song is so unoriginal it hurts. „He“ pronouns would make the song a bit more noticeable but only because of the gender, the lyrics would remain equally bad. No, they should not sing about a he if they don’t feel like it. I can’t think of any good reason why they wouldn’t, though. Damiano David just recorded Dolly Payton’s Jolene, it would have been ridiculous to change the lyrics to “please don’t take my girl” just because he happens to be hetero. Some of these young acts might even regret using the pronouns assigned to them, it might put them in a closet. I loved listening to Elton John’s “Daniel” as a kid. Daniel was a special “brother” in my childhood too. 🙂
My point is, there are ways of getting the feeling across without getting caught up in stereotypical social normalisation. I 100% agree with Ari on this one: The song “Unforgettable” would (sadly) sound the same if you swapped the pronouns. What’s missing here is the personal story in the songwriting, which is why Dotter has my favourite MelFest song this year.
Yeah, I was hung up on how bad I find the song title. But I’m really starting to come around on Dotter. It’s probably the only genuine song in the whole line-up and the melody is really lovely. The way she sings it too. I hope she wins.

My last say.. My feeling says that sending something slick, well-produced and that has a bit of a familiar sound to it, can come as relief to viewers among all of these weirdos. It really can backfire on them and they might steal votes from eachother. Never underestimate Sweden.

Danny should win. The song has really grown on me, it’s actually not that bad. I’d almost pay cash money for it. I think, but hope not, that too many voters will fall for the subliminal messaging from staging. M & M somehow seem like a contender based on slick presentation. I know it’s not a favourite of many melo fans but I personally really enjoy it. His live performance in Eskilstuna was awesome and I’d like to see Danny get to Eurovision, be it with this song or another one.
He has two second places, M & M only have one. Danny deserves it more.

I wish those 12 songs could replace 12 songs that were already chosen for Eurovision. It’s not the best line-up, it’s annoying to see the same artists and composers every year, but all of those songs are much better than what some other countries choose.
Would love for Smash into Pieces to win.
Looooved them last year but this song in 2024 is another version of last year’s entry and to be honest, a bit weaker. So, it’s a no from me this year. But I would love to see them again in Mello.
The two previous great Swedish results didn’t happen because of a strong Melfest but rather because among the generic and plastic songs, Sweden also had Cornelia and Loreen.
I wonder if this year we also have a similar case. I will listen to the songs on Saturday for the first time
Dotter?! Really? The stans are doing a lot of heavy lifting for her in this poll thats for sure! With that song she’ll get 6th.
I think SVT would like to avoid Maria Sur to face Kaleen. If Kaleen turns out to be a good singer and makes the final, they’d cancel each other out. If Kaleen gives a strong performance, she’d probably beat Maria quite convincingly because her song is stronger. Similar but stronger. That’s what happens when everyone has the same composers. On the other hand, Sweden can still take credit for the Austrian song since it’s Swedish.
Anderz Wrethov, Jimmy Joker and Kill J would be torn between who to back in that case. Same if Liamoo should win 🙂
They can send M&M for a repeat of Swedens result in 2018 I suppose. High jury, low televote. It just doesn’t seem like the kind of song the voting audience will gravitate towards one bit at Eurovision itself, especially with the amount of bops already selected. A power ballad would likely fare much better.
That’s Dotter or Lisa Ajax then. I’d vote Dotter. If a weak Dance you off -like song gets chosen and they get close to winning the jury vote again, it would be extremely unfair this year with so many excellent entries deserving a top 10 result.
Just because it happened in 2018 does not mean it will happen this year. That is not how it works..
M&M would definitely dominate televoting at least in Scandavian countries. That makes already 12×4.

Televote wise, it’s possible they get 0 points from Finland. Loreen didn’t even get a point from the Finnish televote last year.
Again, just because that happened once does not mean it will happen again. ESC is not a constant. It’s just as possible they get 12 from Finland. Or 10. Or 7. People are not as petty as fans

I don’t think it’s his worst at all. At first listen I thought it was slightly worse than Amazing (which I thought was his best), but after a couple of listens, HTYFM has grown on me and it’s my favourite now. The staging was better on Amazing though, but HTYFM is better produced. Amazing was a great song but it had a weak sound, HTYFM sounds a lot better.
