There are five countries in the north of Europe who are bringing a little bit of everything to this year’s Eurovision in Malmö. The Nordic countries — that’s Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden — have won Eurovision a total of fourteen times between them, and Sweden of course became joint first on the all-time winning record list with Loreen’s victory in 2023.
So we have to ask: what’s the best Nordic entry of Eurovision 2024? Are you scared of heights while the sand slips unforgettable through your hands? Or are you wearing an ulveham while declaring that there are no rules of your voting?
You can vote for as many countries as you’d like, but you can only vote one time. Be sure and click the box next to each country you want to support before hitting VOTE. You can scroll down to review the acts down below.
Denmark: Saba – “Sand”
Saba won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2024 in an exciting super final with “Sand”. She will be the first solo artist of African descent to represent the land of Hans Christian Andersen and smørrebrød in Eurovision hoping to get Denmark into the grand final for the first time in five years.
Finland: Windows95man – “No Rules!”
He wasn’t the favourite going into this year’s UMK, but just as the song title suggests there were no rules in Windows95man’s entry, even after being last with the juries in the Finnish selection. So he won UMK and the right to go to Malmö. Now the 90’s pastiche will try to be just as crazy and party in Malmö and emulate last year’s success for Finland
Iceland: Hera Björk – “Scared of Heights”
She is by far the most experienced of this year’s Eurovision contestants, and she isn’t scared of being in a close competition. Because that is what happened this year in Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin where Hera Björk just edged out Bashar Murad in the super final for the win. A week later the Eurovision 2010 alum confirmed her participation in Malmö.
Norway: Gåte – “Ulveham”
Speaking about thrilling finals, it was really close in Norway with this year’s Melodi Grand Prix. Gåte won the Norwegian national final by just 3 points over KEiiNO and the band that formed 25 years ago will now bring their Nordic folk rock sound to the stage in Malmö. Maybe the wolf skin will help them go to the top in their neighbouring country?
Sweden: Marcus & Martinus – “Unforgettable”
Last year they came second only to eventual Eurovision winner Loreen and this year they swept both the jury and televote in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen making it an unforgettable experience. Now the Norwegian twin duo of Marcus & Martinus gets to open the Eurovision final as song number 1, hoping to get a Swedish double victory in Eurovision. We hope the arena in Malmö is prepped for the teenage screaming when the time comes.

Rivalry is reignited, any time Sweden wins, Denmark win Eurovision the following year
1999: Sweden
2000: Denmark
2012: Sweden
2013: Denmark
2023: Sweden
2024: Denmark?
I think that Denmark has the best song this year from Nordic countries. From the other songs, I like only Sweden and the rest three are all in my bottom 20..
Iceland and Finland are this year bottom NQ material. Sweden and Denmark are just ok, 15th-something worth. Norway is not the best song from this year, but I don’t mind if they land a top10
Norway by a huuuuuge margin. Denmark is second, but it’s not even close.
Norway lightyears ahead…only song with cutting edge authenticity
Norway is literally the only good one for me.
It’s not a great year for the Nordics.
It’s interesting, that Iceland is ranked so low (not ony here). Yes, it’s not a banger, but imo it’s the feel-good-enry of the year. So was Gustaph in 2023, and he did really well. I think, Hera Björk will reach the final and will do not so bad.
My vote goes to Norway, and bi shout out to Gate for singing in Norwegian. Last time we heard Norwegian in Eurovision was 16y ago.
Sweden is the ONLY country that still hasn’t send song in their national language IN THIS CENTURY. Damn, that’s crazy!!
Sorry but Björnzone beat them all…too bad it was a parody sketch 🙁
Estonia is Nordic too.
No, it’s not. They are Baltic. However, from a cultural point of view and as a people close to origin with the Finns, we can say they have certain elements of the Nordic culture as well. It’s like saying Estonia is close to Finland, Finland is close to Nordic / is Nordic, so Estonia is kind of Nordic in some aspects.
I’ll be honest, other than Norway, this isn’t the strongest batch of Nordic songs this year. While Sweden and Denmark are fine for me, Finland is a guilty pleasure at best personally and Iceland is definitely dead in the water. Shame they really fell down deep from their winning potential 2020/2021.
I’m really surprised how popular Norway seems.to be, she is giving me witch screaming into a bog vibes. I think it could be a shock NQ, cos it’s utter tripe
That may happen. Although I love the song, I wonder if it can resonate with first-time listeners and viewers. If you listen to it twice and more, you get familiar with and appreciate its style and artistic merit.
Knowing that Luxembourg is back, will there be a Best Benelux entry post?
Each one has at least 33% chance of being the best BENELUX entry, haha
I’ll pray to the Gods that Norway will be eliminated. Her screams are disgustingly unacceptable.
I second this motion. She sounds like she stepped on a piece of Lego
Odin and Freja would ask for something in return. Perhaps eliminate Ireland as well? ;P
There´s only one option for me: Norway with a big margin to the other ones.
Denmark is nice but average, Sweden quite boring.
Iceland and especially Finland are terrbile.
Norway 9/12
Denmark 6,5/12
Sweden 5/12
Iceland 2/12
Finland 1/12
Norway by far the best one.
Then Sweden, Finland.
Denmark far below those 2, and honestly my last place of the whole year is Iceland
Not a Nordic year.
1. Norway
2. Sweden/Denmark
3. Iceland
4. Finland
Denmark is so underrated.
It’s overrated
100% agree, this song doesnt get the attention it should get.
None, all of them are weak and generic this year, especially Denmark, Iceland and the usual overrated Sweden
All 5 are not in my top 10 (two of them are in my bottom 5), but if I have to chose:
Norway
Sweden
Denmark
Finland
Iceland
1 Norway
2 Finland
3 Sweden/Iceland
5 Danmark
It’s difficult to argue against Norway winning this poll, but I will try to do so anyhow. My personal winner here is Denmark. (Yes, really.) IMO this is not the best recent year for entries from the Nordics, but perhaps that is only because they have been so strong for so many years prior to this. Gåte (Norway) are obviously an accomplished folk-rock band and are clearly going to get the best result here. But I really don’t like the song “Ulveham”. (I will save explaining why not for the Wiwi Jury, if there is one.) “Sand” (Denmark), on the… Read more »
I went for Norway. I don’t think window-man will get out of the semis. He’s a big gun in Finland, but people from out of that country will be the ones voting for him on May and they already placed him last in his own national NF.
Norway is the best here for me. Denmark is solid yet nothing amazing (an improvement over their past entries), Finland is fun live but as a song alone it doesn’t have the same charm, Sweden is fun for a club or something and has great staging (as always with Sweden) but at the same time it is generic and plastic and Iceland is an outdated schlager.
Thanks for including the artist/titles along with the country name. At this point in the year, I don’t always match a song with the country, but a title brings the song to mind immediately.
Norway (at #2)
Denmark (at #6)
Finland (at #7)
Sweden (Somewhere in the mid 10s)
Iceland (Somewhere in the blur past #20)
Norway stands head and shoulders above the others
Sweden is superior by far. Then Norway and Finland.
Agreed
Tough choice, but I would say that this year’s Nordic entries are overall very good. Of course, it’s not like 2023, where 3 Nordic entries finished in the Top, with Sweden winning the trophy. I love Norway; Gåte’s entry is amazing. Will vote for it in May Sweden‘s (or Norway’s) M&M entry is good enough. I listen to it on my playlist, and their staging and performance are amazing (and so professional, so they will get loooots of jury votes) Finland‘s entry is also very catchy, and I still listen to it long after UMK. I feel they will do… Read more »
Norway all the way, nothing else comes close and it might well win the whole thing.
I love Gåte and will vote for it. I admit, however, that it is a tricky song for first-time listeners. If it qualifies for the final, it will get a lot of jury votes and probably end somewhere at #10 place (or a bit below).
I don’t think there ha ever been a weaker year for the Nordics.the fact that Sweden is my favourite says it all. I feel like the Swedish entry was created in a laboratory but it’s the best package here.
Same
Controversial pick but Finland is my favourite
Sweden and Denmark are growing on me
Norway is not my taste
Iceland is dated
I love No Rules and still listen to it. I also don’t mind the crazy staging and performance, as long as the blonde guy sings well enough! 🙂
I’m with you on that one. When ppl are bashing windows95man for being trashy I always say : «wait, you might be right about him , but the blonde guy sings actually well …»
I know it’s unpopular but I find Norway the worst.
For me it’s Sweden > Denmark > Finland > Iceland > Norway
Just before anyone attacks me. I wasn’t rooting for Keiino. I wanted Eya.
Norway 7,7
Iceland 3,8
Denmark 2,5
Sweden 1,7
Finland 0,2
I respect your grades but I feel you are a bit unfair. OK, 2024 might not be the strongest year for the Nordics but Sweden 1,7? Even if I did not like the song, I would award them a 7 for their amazing and professional staging and performance.
No, he/she is absolutely right about this crap from Finland.
I am talking about Sweden. About Finland, I love the entry but I understand some may find it trash and hate it. I used to be one of them (finding similar songs trashy and disliking them at a grand scale) but for some reason, with No Rules, I don’t mind.
I’m just sad that KEiiNO didn’t make it this year.
I voted for Marcus and Martini at this poll, but in the final it won’t be a Nordic country I’ll be voting for in 2024.
Martini
Norway, of course, is a big contender for winning the competition. In my opinion, before seeing all the live performances, only Switzerland seems like a real challenge to Norway, with Italy and Croatia as possible dark horses. Regardless, I think Norway will be in the top 4 and my absolute favourite from the very beginning.
Even though I have this feeling the nordic countries are not in a really good year, 3 of them managed to finish in my top 10 (well, twl are 9th and 10th but still). It says a lot qbout how I feel about this contest :/ But in the same time there are songs that I put between 20th and 25th that I still enjoy. All in all, not a terrible year but not a good one either.
I really wish I could be patient enough to read my comment twice before sending it :’)
Come on people, we all know Finland is gonna slay the televote, at least in semi 1
Absolutely. And I’m glad for them.
Me not….
This might be the first contest in years I never listen to any of the songs from the Nordics.
I have not even finished my first-time streaming of Iceland and Finland. I listened only once to Denmark. Because of the hype, I tried to listen to Norway twice, in as much times couldn’t even finish it. I have streamed the Swedish entry twice.
Has to be Sweden
For me, it is: 1. Norway (8.5/10) 2. Denmark (8/10) (surprisingly) 3. Sweden (7/10) 4. Iceland (6.5/10) 5. Finland (1.5/10) I’m sorry but I don’t care about “No Rules”, it only seems like a bad joke to me. It’s trying too hard to be funny and manages to achieve the exact opposite result, making it cringe. Entries like Estonia’s or The Netherlands’s have managed to actually be great fun without forcing it right in your face. Norway have definitely send their best entry in years and I may even be robbing it a bit with my score. Denmark is a… Read more »
I couldn’t agree more on Finland. You describe exactly what I feel – it’s not funny, it’s just cringe. Do you think that there might be a cultural element to that? I can’t seem to find people from South Europe that like “No Rules”. Our rankings are similar btw and Norway is by far my winner here (9/10 for me). I can’t decide if I want to put Denmark or Sweden second but they are both hovering in the 7-8/10 range for me. Iceland is an okayish 5/10 and Finland is 1/10 and dead last in my ranking for this… Read more »
I agree too !
Seems silly to have a poll when the answer is so obvious.
Norway.
Too screeching
Yes it is blindingly obvious that it’s Norway. Even so, I would still personally pick “Sand” (Denmark) over “Ulveham”. 17% of voters agree with me, so at least we’re polling better than the Lib Dems (UK)!
Ohh, definitely Norway!! It’s the only Nordic country that serves culture and tradition this year instead of a polished and generic pop song which is why they’re the only Nordic potential winner I think. Personally, I love Ulveham a lot for so many things and I really hope that Norway will get an amazing result as a dark horse!! Lykke til Norge! ????
Actually this year all nordic entries are very boring and uncreative.
On thr other hand, UK, Slovenia, Luxemburg, Austria, Italy, Greece, Israel, Croatia, Ukraine and Spain are all ???
The question marks were supposed to be the fire emoji 😉
Norway is boring and uncreative yet the UK isn’t. Are you serious. The UK is the definition of generic electronic pop. Norway is a piece of authentic musical art.
1. Norway
2. Denmark
3. Iceland/Sweden
5. Finland
Swe, Den , Nor, Ice , Fin
Finland > Denmark > Norway >>> Iceland >>>>>>>>>>> Sweden
You mean Sweden has won the race? :p
My top 5:
The poll results align with my taste.
1. Norway (Phenomenal)
2. Denmark (Guilty pleasure, good to sing along to)
3. Sweden (Solid pop entry which is growing on me more and more)
4. Finland (I feel like this is a concept that we’ve seen a lot and has been executed way better, not really my thing)
5. Iceland (Unfortunately a very bland song, she sings it well though)
I have loved Hera since 2010 and will always award points for her vocal ability and confidence on stage. The song this year is a bit generic but you can’t deny it sends happy vibes.
