National final season has come to an end and we now have 22 winners who will move on to compete at Eurovision 2024. However, many of the other entries that didn’t make it will remain on our playlists for some time. To celebrate these acts, it’s time for our countdown of Team Wiwi’s Top 50 national final songs of Eurovision 2024.

The team here at wiwibloggs have voted for their favourite songs that competed in the national finals for Eurovision 2024 but were not selected. Over 130 of this year’s songs received points from at least one of our jurors. Now we’re ready to share which of them made it into our Top 50. We’ll reveal ten tracks each day until we reach the winner.

Note this is not an objective list, but is determined by the personal votes of a panel of wiwibloggers. We encourage you to share your own personal favourites in the comments below.

shame that some of this songs didn’t make it!
MYDY – “Red Flag Parade (would have been a gay parade song!)
YAGODY – “Tsunamia (very Eurovision!)
Sofia Coll – Here to Stay (but live was not good enough I see that too)

And my favorite song didn’t make it but I hope is in the top 10 that are missed:
The song of …
Annalisa – Sinceramente !!! It would have slayed Eurovision love to her!

Mileo’s song is amazing!
I like Dotter but her song was pretty overrated by the fandom.

Mileo was 100% robbed this NF season. So glad he’s appreciated by the Eurovision community! ???

I know it won’t win but the one song I am still constantly listening to is Ewert & the Two Dragons “Hold me Now” from Eesti Laul.

I heard it for the first time during the final and at the end just said “wow. this is beautiful.” It’s gentle, melancholy, so well crafted.

I know it’s not for a competition, just grateful it’s in my life.

40% Melodifestivalen? Are they really so much above the rest?

My guess is that we still have 4 to go.

Only three, it turned out. Maria Sur, Jaqueline and Cazzi were yesses, Danny was a no. I thought the familiarity bias might win out there.

But to be fair they do have a lot of songs in the selection and most are well are produced or interestingly staged -we also know the style of the site and taste of the authors – so you know – its all good.

I agree. Personally, among the non-winning MF songs of the past decades there are only a few that I find interesting – Nanne’s “Avundsjuk” and Salem’s “Keep on walking”. There were also some good MF winners, of course, some of them went on to win ESC.

I doubt that this panel have even listened to all the songs of this national final season, and they definitely must be going by the studio versions and not live versions… Because some of these wouldnt make sense at all if not. So many quality songs missing out on behalf of novelty and dated songs….

Mileo’s performance was great, I have no idea why he didn’t make the final.
The only constructive piece of criticism I have is that he seemed a little stiff and awkward on stage, his costume didn’t help either. If he finds his aesthetic and becomes more confident on stage, I have no doubt that he could represent Norway in the coming years.

I was also very pleased that somebody else here appreciated “Teorias da Conspiração.” For me the connection was immediate– I listened to it a couple of times and knew, “OK, that’s track one on my 2024 NF mix.” You matched with four of my top eleven songs here. “Novo, bolje” may have played differently for me if Serbia’s selection was really uninspired instead of my favorite NF of the season. The surrounding music wasn’t making me feel ennui– it was making me happy!

You said it all. Serbia this year literally had CHOICES to made, PZE was miles above last year’s edition in my opinion.

Looking forward to your top 10, judging by other of your comments, there’re a lot of chance we’re having some matches again!

20. Mileo – “You’re Mine” (Norway) – A classy string-laden chorus contrasts with down and dirty verses with delicious campy-evil lyrics. 19. Cyan Kicks – “Dancing With Demons” (Finland) – A sweet-and-sour jittery rush of a rock anthem. 18. Angy – “Se quien soy” (Spain) – When the song is really firing, there are crunchy guitars, a pounding beat, and a great vocal hook all going one at once. Hey, good job, G:son. 17. Silk Nobre – “Change” (Portugal) – A neat bit of musical theater showmanship that gets my toes tapping. 16. Ziferblat – “Place I Call Home” (Ukraine)… Read more »

Most of these songs are somewhere in the ”honorable mentions” for me, with Mileo actually entering my Top 50 as well. Aiste’s entry isn’t very high on my list, but I can totally see your take on it. There definitely is *something* here.

There’s a lot of niche genre stuff in this set that I kind of figured wouldn’t be as broadly popular as some of my other sets. I’m well aware that the gap between me and the rest of the fandom on Aiste is pretty huge. I kind of wonder if there’s a North America vs Europe gap there. Maybe the UK (where Aiste is based) falls more on the North American side; I know they love their vintage soul.

I’ve listened to “Run” and “Vai!” and “FOMO” quite a lot… I think the last one there didn’t make my list because I didn’t have much to say about it besides “it’s a bop.” But it is a total bop.

Well, this is the first set that looks like a typical Wiwi list, with that long run of mostly Swedes. And also the preview image reminding us of that horrible dress Sofia Coll wore at Benidorm.

Here’s a salute to Dotter, who has completed her four years of service on the front lines, and who I will have to consider an uncompetitive nostalgia act if she chooses to return to Melfest. Sorry, Dotter, but Jonas is holding me to this rule 🙂

Yes, we hit it on 11, I really enjoyed that one. I really loved Monika’s entry from a few years ago, this one not as much, but I definitely found it nice. And Sini and Ollie’s efforts were ones that I found some connection with – so all is not lost for us yet!!!

Again, we have several matches here. Gnezdo orlovo, Ricominciamo tutto, and Hold Me Now are the three I don’t have on this level, but they are quality entries, and I can see why you’ve put them there. Others have either already appeared on my list, or they are about to.

I quite like this section. Sigga’s Iceland song appeals to me a lot more than Anita’s. And I actually find Froken Snusk one of the better offerings from Sweden this year. Danny made my list so don’t need to bring him up,

Your choices for no.12 and no.18 are songs I also like. ^^

I’ve already mentioned Sigga and I’d really like to see her represent Iceland one day. Actually, in Iceland this year, I think I liked everything except what they picked, including Downfall. In the great epadunk-off of Melfest 2024, I preferred Lia (the Swedish pop-music factory worked wonders there) but Froken Snusk had a lot of charm too. Just like 24.Avenija last year, Outsider was a song I thought was pretty awful on first listen, but I came around to kind of getting it by the time Supernova arrived. I may have stanned Tudor if he went out there and did… Read more »
