The Eurovision 2025 season is beginning to heat up. Over the course of the next few months, we will all fall in and out of love with scores of new national final and Eurovision entries. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests.
Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.
Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.
New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 2
Olly Alexander – “When We Kiss”
Only a month to go until Olly Alexander shares his new studio album with us all. To tide us over, the British star has given us a new song to play on repeat until then. “When We Kiss” is a ’90s-inspired dance-pop offering with a dynamic layering of beats that will certainly get listeners vibing. But, Olly’s vocals also provide an emotive pull to the song. The UK’s Eurovision 2024 star sings about love and heartbreak during a difficult period in a relationship: “Hold onto me / There’s something here worth saving / Hold onto me / There’s a tidal wave pullin’ us apart […] How can we justify / The love we left behind? / How did it ever come to this? / Tears in your eyes when we kiss.”
MARO & NASAYA – “I DON’T WANNA FEEL THAT WAY”
Eurovision 2022 star MARO has been releasing a steady stream of singles alongside musician NASAYA over the past year. Their collaboration will reach its conclusion this coming Wednesday, when the album LIFELINE will arrive. Before then, we have one final pre-release record — “I DON’T WANNA FEEL THAT WAY.” It highlights a new side to the pair’s project, blending together numerous percussion melodies with occasional digital beats to create a interesting final teaser for the LP.
Marcus & Martinus – “Wonder”
It might be the depths of winter across Europe, but Marcus & Martinus are here to bring us a (very) early dose of summer. The twins’ new song, “Wonder,” is reminiscent of Avicii’s chiller dance tracks — the kind you’d have on blast whilst taking a summer road trip in a convertible car. In the lyrics, the Eurovision 2024 duo have one person on their minds, and they ponder whether this particular individual is also thinking about them: “When the night gets cold and my head won’t sleep / When the moon is heavy with your memory / And my old life feels like a distant dream / Oh, I wonder if you think of me.”
OGENE – “Illusion”
Sister trio OGENE are known for their stellar vocal harmonies, and this is once again the highlight of their new song “Illusion.” The Eurovision 2017 representatives have crafted a delicious R&B-pop song that creates an almost ethereal aura. In the lyrics, the Dutch singers discuss the ugly nature of reality and how they’ve decided to fabricate their own safe space: “Satisfied in solitude, when I’m alone / Crafted something perfect, though it’s fake I know / Better off on my own / This illusion is home.”
KEiiNO – “Midnight Gloria”
“I only came here to dance / But now you turn me on / Do you believe in romance? / Midnight gloria / Don’t need you saving my soul / Give me the filthy beat in your heart / Midnight gloria.”
KEiiNO aren’t wasting any time in 2025. The trio are already building towards a new album, set for release sometime this spring, and the first single from the LP has them experiencing “Midnight Gloria.” Norway’s Eurovision 2019 stars serve up everything their fans love — an extremely catchy dance-pop song with joik influences. Writing about the meaning behind this latest song, KEiiNO noted on Instagram:
“The song is about the thrill of anticipation — whether it’s for a night out, a love affair, or a fresh start. It’s about surrendering to what might not be sensible: that friend who’s a ‘bad’ influence or the little voice in your head urging you to take the leap. Follow the cowboy queen and the horse with the golden eyes, and give in to your desire!”
Andrei Ursu – “Rece ca Ianuarie”
Europe is now well and truly gripped by the cold of winter. For Andrei Ursu, the chill has even taken over his heart. Romania’s Eurovision 2022 star shares his agony through the winter ballad “Rece ca Ianuarie” (“Cold as January”). Ursu sings of someone he met in the warmth of summer, but who’s disappearance in August has since left him frozen: “How can you forget about me? / Cold as January / Is your heart made of ice / I can’t change it / I wonder if May will ever come again / On my street / To bloom the trees of love.”
S10 – “Have Fun”
S10 is having a fun start to 2025. The Dutch singer’s new track is much more upbeat and cheery compared to the music many may know her for. However, the lyrics still have a touch of sadness and pain to them. The Eurovision 2022 alumna sings abut a relationship she knows isn’t healthy but can’t quite move on from: “Suddenly my doorbell rang / You’re sorry / And I forgive you / The sex was too much / And I don’t like to admit that I feel that / We’re not good for each other / And that I also know that this is not going anywhere […] And so I say / Have fun, ha-ha-have fun / You just figure it out yourself.”
TEYA – “Bite Marks”
Welcome to Noxus. TEYA is entering the League of Legends world by crafting a song for the online battle game’s new season. “Bite Marks” is a dramatic and suspenseful track that stirs up an electrifying atmosphere for those embarking on the game’s journey. In the chorus, Austria’s Eurovision 2023 star sings: “I like it when the bite marks cut through the skin / Tell me the walls are closing in / Into the fire and born again / Taste the pain and drink it in.”
Lindita – “Ironic”
Lindita is finding her current circumstances very “Ironic.” Albania’s Eurovision 2017 act has been giving her partner everything she had, yet for some reason they’ve been looking for the exact same thing in other people: “This situation can’t save us so I gotta go / Can’t shoot my shot with no bullets and a rifle / God knows I tried but you wasn’t my reciprocal / You had it all and still you wanted more.” Musically, the song is mid-tempo R&B-pop track with drum machine beats layered underneath Lindita’s vocals.
Carola – “Zoe”
During her second appearance on TV show Hver gang vi møtes, Carola performed a new version of Thomas Dybdahl’s “Cecilia.” Sweden’s three-time Eurovision star transformed the song into something especially personal to her by singing about her adopted daughter “Zoe.” Writing on social media after the episode, Carola shared the following:
“We found each other Zoe and I and we won life together! ‘You were born in my heart’ I usually tell her – my beloved daughter who turned 3 when we came home from the African continent to our shared home and family in Sweden. For me it has always been important that she feels that she is enough as she is and that she can become everything she dreams of becoming deep down.”
PAENDA – “Up And Down”
We’re only 12 days into 2025, but PAENDA is already experiencing highs and lows. Austria’s Eurovision 2019 representative is going “Up And Down” in her current relationship: “Always getting down way too deep / It’s like we wanna know the depths we’re able to reach / Until we drown, we come back up again ’cause we know we can’t die.” Whilst PAENDA and her partner are on this rollercoaster, they’re also dancing — the singer has paired the lyrics with electronic dance beats.
Sinplus – “Faster Than Shadows”
Sinplus are going through a re-set. Switzerland’s Eurovision 2012 duo are starting anew in 2025, focusing on raw music and real connection. The first single from this re-birth is “Faster Than Shadows,” a gritty pop rock track. They sing: “Faster than shadows / The world disappears / Burn it all down.”
Omar Naber – “Le s teboj”
Omar Naber kicked off the New Year with the release of “Le s teboj” (“Only with you”). At 1:16 minutes in length, it’s quite a short track — but it certainly still packs a punch. Slovenia’s two-time Eurovision entrant delivers a fiery rock song with electric guitars running full force throughout. Lyrically, Naber sings about the special person in his life that he wants to do everything alongside: “And with you everything is happening beautifully for me / And with you I urinate when I laugh / And with you 42 seems like 24 / Only with you, only with you, only with you.”
