If voters logging on to the ESC Flash Malta fan site have it right, then Kaya is the artist to beat at Malta’s national selection contest.
Kaya—born Priscilla Psailla—currently leads the field of 24 semi-finalists with her song “First Time.” It’s a cheesy, overly sentimental, somewhat predictable number. Given the Maltese love of schmaltz (remember Thea Garrett back in 2010?) it’ll probably do well with voters. Thank goodness a professional jury will be casting their vote, too! You can watch Kaya’s video below, and can also check out the full standings of the ESC Flash Malta poll. But before you do, be sure to vote in Wiwi’s poll “Who Should Represent Malta at Eurovision 2012” by clicking here.
