Belgium and San Marino haven’t picked their contestants. And Britain and a host of other countries have not yet revealed their song. But, as with the first semi-final, the bookies at Betfair are already making predictions and throwing down odds for the second semi-final at Eurovision 2012.
It’s no surprise that they have Sweden’s Loreen (pictured above) listed as the favorite at 13/25. She’s currently leading the overall odds to win Eurovision, and she’s the only contestant in either semi-final with odds less than 1. Serbia’s Zeljko Joksimovic—who hasn’t yet decided whether to sing in Serbian or English—is currently listed as the second most likely to win this semi-final at around 2/1. Norway’s Tooji, Turkey’s Can Bonomo and Bosnia’s MayaSar round out the Top 5.
These rankings do not align with the results of the Wiwi Jury, our in-house panel of music unprofessionals from America, Australia, Britain and Finland. For instance, our jury rates Norway’s Tooji well ahead of Turkey’s Can Bonomo, but they are tied in the odds below. Our jury reflects quality; these odds account for other issues such as Turkey’s powerful diaspora, which frequently helps its contestants on the scoreboard.
In any case, you can view the results from Betfair below. They are accurate as of 13 March 2012 at 21:00 GMT. What do you think? Is this premature and ridiculous? Or do you trust the bookies’ instincts?

NORWAY!!!! Tooji is cool! 🙂
Netherlands will surprise….
malta to win
I’m surprised Norway isn’t tipped to do even better. After all, Eric Saade won his semi last year with (if I remember correctly) a weak draw and a smiliar but much more western/schlager and much less jury friendly song.
Love the looks of this semi, because some of my favorites Estonia, Belarus, and Slovakia look like they might squeak in. And most of the acts I don’t like as much–Netherlands, Georgia, Malta–have crappy odds. Let’s just hope the finalists match the punters’ top 10! (though I doubt they will exactly:P)
Wow, Euphoria is NO.1 in Finland and NO.3 in Norway
